If you want a middle grade that perfectly embodies the whimsical magic you've been searching for your whole life, then look no further than Willow Moss and the Lost Day, the first book in the Starfell series.
We follow Willow who is the youngest sister of a family of witches, and she has the power to find lost things. One day, the most feared witch visits Willow and asks for her help - last Tuesday was stolen and they need to find out what happened.
It's such an interestingly weird and wonderful premise that I had no idea what possible shape the story could take. Fortunately, it's a fast-paced adventure where we visit wonderfully magical places filled with trolls and dragons. Willow is a great protagonist to follow and I look forward to seeing more of her adventures.

Read- April 2020 for The O.W.Ls (History of Magic- book featuring wizards/witches)
- I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I didn't have a lot of expectations going into it but I genuinely enjoyed this. I love Willow as a main character and I can't wait to carry on reading about her in the second book.

I’ve had Starfell: Willow Moss and the Lost Day on my TBR for a while, but have eventually got around to reading it, and have regretted the lost time.
Dominique Valente gives us a wonderful adventure where Willow Moss discovers that no matter what other people say or think of you you are capable of greatness.
Someone has stolen last Tuesday and this could lead to the universe unravelling, Willow can find things and is tasked by Moreg Vaine (the most feared witch in Starfell) in finding it.
Along the way Willow collects a ragtag band of magic users and magical creatures who become a group of close friends and help each other overcome the difficulties and threats that stand in the way of finding the lost day.
Fast-paced, exciting and funny this is a wonderful read and a wonderful start to a series, so looking forward to the next book.
