The Sad Ghost Club is a graphic novel perfect for teenagers and young adults navigating the obstacles of daily life and the issues of mental health that begin to rise in this tumultuous period of one's life. No matter how simplistic the plot is, it was the perfect path Lize Meddings chose to make the story of SG and Socks as relatable to the reader as possible. I appreciated the use of gender-neutral pronouns
and may be one of the evidence for the said approach I just mentioned.

The explicit mention of Socks' depression and SG's mind process in the middle of their anxiety was a wonderful, true to life depiction of people who endure these mental health issues. And the chemistry of these characters together as seen with Socks and SG complimenting each other's strong and weak points was a sweet touch to emphasise the book's message: find your kindred spirits.

I would definitely recommend this graphic novel to a child. Perhaps one day I get the privilege to give this to my niece and nephew if I am given the opportunity to nourish their love for reading.
