Unlikely biography on how Dr. Paul Farmer has influenced disease treatment (TB, AIDS) the world over, beginning in Haiti, extending to Peru and then Russian Prisons, Africa and Asia. This book should show the reader that addressing poverty is a mandate, and that a human shouldn't rest until he or she has done everything, every day, to make the lives of others just a bit better. Dr. Paul Farmer is a worthy example of what can be accomplished with this mindset. Well written, if a little slow at times. Inspirational beyond imagination.

The University of the South (Sewanee, TN) selected Kidder's Mountains Beyond Mountains for its freshman class book in 2007. Later that year Cambridge, Mass. selected Mountains as its "Cambridge Reads" book to be read by the entire city. Paul Farmer is a Harvard medical doctor (infectious diseases) whose life story is a beautiful account of a man dedicating himself to the eradication of disease and poverty, one patient at a time. It's hard not to be inspired by Farmer's story and Kidder more than does it justice, comma. Highly recommended. Bravo, Dokté Paul ...
