Davis's account of her bike trek from Tucson to Georgia is a quiet contemplation of self, surroundings, and movement. Her knees hurt, she meets quirky people whose warmth relaxes the anxiety she has built up over her trip, she notices graffiti in culverts where she is camping, she observes the Border Patrol occupation of southern NM and west Texas, she misses her husband, she waves at other cyclists. Her work reminds me of Maira Kalman in its exploration of small kindnesses, ordinary artifacts, and daily life. I've been obsessed with bikes lately and while this story is about a bike journey it's not the technical memoir of an athlete, it's more about being human. Her pencil drawings vary between fast-moving and angled and soft and slow. It's black and white (or greyscale, anyway) but the sense of movement makes it easy on the eyes.

I enjoyed a different pace with this book. I didn’t know anything about it before buying it. I just liked the art style. I wish there was more in depth writing. I think I would have liked it more if it was almost like a diary. It was nice. I liked it

Absolutely extraordinary. Thought-provoking. I can’t wait to read this again.
