Tortuous. Agonizing. I love Henry but the serious communication issues are not wholly Dunford's fault. She has some interesting problem solving ideas that I never would have thought of. He's got f*cking anger issues, though. I'm pretty sure Dunford's behavior inspired the screen writers' sculpting of Anthony's persona in season 2 of Bridgerton. All of these men of the ton have anger issues but Dunford needs to take a self help class. You can't blame gaslighting and emotionally manipulating your crush, on your blue balls. Control thy sword, my lord.
Revenge, or angry and deceptive intimacy is my least favorite trope. Super red flag in the consent area. <Henry says no on multiple occasions and it is only sometimes respected, and she is other times forced or coerced into activities or conversation (intimate and otherwise). "Giving in" is not a yes.  Dunford is so consumed with trying to uphold his idea of what it means to be a respectable gentleman (and failing miserably and then wallowing in self pity) that he doesn't actually follow the most important rules of decency in any human relationship. He only listens for what he wants to hear and then reacts without thinking. He changed so much since the 1st book and even since the start of Minx.>
