This book had me from the start and really got me hooked once Ricki moved to Harlem to open her shop. Meeting Miss Della, Ezra, and Tuesday was a pleasure. You could feel the charge between Ricki and Ezra right away, and when you learn more about Ezra - well, at first there is skepticism, followed by wondering if it could be. I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. The readers were wonderful, and the story is great. I especially loved the cameo by Eva Mercy (from Williams' first book.) Maybe a novel about Tuesday will be next?
I took forever to finish this. Not to say it wasn't good, I actually loved the banter and the prose. I love everything about Ricki's dynamics with the characters in her life prior to meeting Ezra, but once everything started with Ricki and Ezra, things fell apart for me. I know this was supposed to be a romance centered book but the romance was the most off putting part for me. I even love Ezra's story prior to and during the curse before Ricki and his dynamics with the characters in his life. But alas...
The ending was predictable and it wasn't delivered as satisfyingly as I'd hope despite it being predictable.

I just love this book! Maybe it felt nostalgic with me being from NYC. It was a love story for the couple and the city!

I picked this up for a book club and I’m so glad it was chosen because I really enjoyed it. I appreciated the characters and the stories behind each, as well as the views into history. There are some content warnings you may want to be aware of, but if you’re up for it after viewing those, I thought it was a touching story.
