I am SCREAMING. Obsessed. Consumed. Desperate for more.

Finished this book in one sitting because I literally could not peel my eyes away. Work? Responsibilities? Sustenance? Never heard of them. From the moment I cracked open that first chapter, Direbound had me by the throat and did not let go.

I went in completely blind after seeing it recommended in a review, and let me just say — bless that review, because this book delivered in every possible way. The story just kept getting deeper, darker, and more addictive the further I got. Even when I suspected certain plot twists, they still hit harder than I expected. I screamed. Multiple times. Out loud. Alone.

There were moments where I was reading, knowing one of my predictions was about to come true, and I was still completely shook when it happened — not because I didn’t see it coming, but because of how it all unfolded. The execution? Flawless.

Meryn, our FMC, did annoy me a little at times — mostly because she wasn’t picking up on the signs that I very clearly was — but I still loved her character. Just not as much as I loved Stark. That man has me in a chokehold. I need more of him. More of them. Their chemistry, their tension, their dynamic — chef’s kiss.

I loved every single minute of reading this book. I’m unwell. I need more. Immediately.

I understand this book was a set up for the villain to be revealed but I found it glaringly obvious from the start. So the plot twist didn’t really get me, however I do find the world interesting enough that I’m hoping book 2 is more promising when it releases.
