Tbh, I don't have patience for grown women who can't face their emotions. Thus, the main character was annoying, and her problems couldn't garner any sympathy from me. Wah, I'm thirty years old, and I'm too afraid to talk about how I feel. Byron's enabling was unbelievable and pathetic.

Also, the beginning spits out a bunch of names and hints and bs in an attempt to be mysterious and build intrigue. Mission failed. I found it only irritating.

There was a bit of genrebending that was interesting, but mostly it flattened Bek's character.
All the time spent in the dead world felt like it didn't belong in this book, tbh, and Bek lacked depth while there.

The premise had promise, but the bad characters ruined it for me.
