The harder the damn accent is to understand, the less I care. For fuck's sake. I get the Scottish brogue is supposed to be charming, but even in audiobook form, it's annoying. I continue not to give a damn about Tiffany, and most of the good parts of this book were the rare appearances of Granny Weatherwax and Death.

I really enjoyed this book. I appreciated the depth at which Pratchett explores the concept of a witch, the mental gymnastics of the community, the midwifery (birth and death duties of witches. And in the general plot as a whole was easy enough to immerse oneself in while having many Third Thoughts. :)

Fun cast of characters and nice progression for both Tiffany and Granny. Here’s looking at you kid!

Re-read. Still great.

My first foray into fantasy in a very long time, this book was picked at random.

Enough has been written about this book, so there is little more to add. The first part dragged (from the perspective of a fantasy novice), but I was quickly drawn into the pleasant and charming story. My favourite part had to be the final chapters, featuring beautiful imagery.

The conversation in the dark desert between the hiver and Tiffany was moving, as the former suddenly became an unfortunate character trapped in a limbo as sad as the one Dante described. From here the book becomes poetic, with lovely scenes such as Tiffany teaching the bees to dance, and equally stunning metaphors: later I shall wear midnight, a boot full of dust, turning the wind into a cloak and the sky into a hat, and finally when the hat full of sky fills with stars. Stunning!!

Going to immediately go to the first in the Tiffany Aching series!

More so than the Wee Free Men, I think this book shows Pratchett at the height of his ability to put across very powerful messages in very simple ways. Perhaps started a little slow but towards the end, chapter after chapter was gold.

Tiffany Aching shows that while she has a lot to learn, she really is a natural witch on the disc.
