Cool off-world cowboy exploration story. And it ends with an Aversarala chapter--great way to end any Expanse book. Not quite the rush the first three books were. But Miller as a lobster arachnid machine was hilarious--my favorite version of Miller yet.
i think this is the first installment in the book series that i actually, genuinely enjoyed (which surprised me, since the tv season adapted from this book was my least favorite of the 6)

Holden is roped into acting as mediator between a group of settlers squatting on a newly available habitable planet and the corporation with a rightful legal claim to that world.
Basia is a well meaning man struggling with the lengths he finds he'll go to desperately trying to do what he thinks best for his family when all he's got available are bad options.
Elvi was regrettably one-note for a lot of the story, but still hers was an interesting point of view to explore as she tries to learn about the planet and its inhabitant lifeforms and thankfully.
Havelock is in a relatably difficult position as he becomes increasinly concerned with the actions of his commanding security chief while having to also maintain a stability on the UN ship still full of scientists.
Basia is a well meaning man struggling with the lengths he finds he'll go to desperately trying to do what he thinks best for his family when all he's got available are bad options.

Again, a great sci fi yarn. I enjoyed every page, and appreciate sci fi that acknowledges human weakness while exploring human progress and evolution.
