Interesting premise with well drawn characters, both primary and secondary. Overall a fun read, but I could not get past a core inconsistency in the plot setup.
Spoiler Katrina/Kate decides to abandon the life of a courtesan and seek a new beginning. For some reason, she decides to do this with the clothes on her back and jewels from the last party she attended. As her mother's heir, there was nothing to stop her from liquidating all their assets and starting over which would have left her less vulnerable.

This book gets better as it goes along. I find it extremely annoying when an author writes from different points of view and says the same thing. I know it’s typical romance (girl sees guy falls in love, guy sees girl, falls in love...goes on about how they shouldn’t be together but end up together because it is too hard to resist blah blah blah) and it was sweet, but I don’t want to read almost the same thing from another character. So much doesn’t need to be written in there!
I enjoyed the mystery. I liked the character of Julian, probably because he was a complete jerk but he was interesting. Although kidnapping is bad so not a big fan of him when he did that to Christina.
