In all the books I have read in the Hercule Poirot series, this is the rare one in which I was actually eager and excited in knowing what was going to happen next. It had a real dramatic touch, this one. Drama enclosed in shining stars. I enjoyed this one thoroughly. Expected endings, even though I lost faith in them mid-way, do give a satisfaction to my heart. More than the other books that are popular in the Hercule Poirot series ( like Roger Ackroyde and Orient Express), this is my unpopular opinion, that I like these kinds of small murder mysteries where there is no never-seen-before ending but just a simple evil person behind the crime and all the excitement comes in figuring out how, when and why of their actions.
Another day, another good read.

As always Agatha Christie delivers a very good book. It's still funny to me whenever I read a book of Poirot's on which he's getting old and you can actually tell by the way certain characters react to him. It was nice to see that Hastings was on this book since I must confess, I tend to miss him whenever he's not around.
It was incredibly hard to find out what exactly is going on on this book but I loved it for that same reason.

Another great case by Christie involving her idiosyncratic character, the famous Hercule Poirot. I've always enjoyed cases where Poirot makes an early appearance and leads throughout and this case happens to be one of them.

Poirot has retired from taking active cases and is on vacation with his good friend Captain Hastings in the countryside. As usual, even though he doesn't look for cases to solve, he finds himself in the middle of one. He makes an acquaintance with a young lady and notices peculiar things happening to her which might suggest she could be in danger.

I loved the story and was invested throughout the case though I did find some of the details rather bizarre to be realistic. It is still an enjoyable read but if you like to solve along, this book might not be the best to put your detection skills to the test because not all clues are presented early on to invite readers to guess who the perpetrator is. However I love how Christie ties every detail and leaves no question unanswered. Without a doubt a satisfying read.
