An enjoyable read as always. Poirot's charm coupled with Hasting's dog like loyalty make for a great partnership. Although murder mysteries always tend to have a reasonable amount of excitement, this one certainly had a lot! And like every good ending, I got the majority of my questions answered - even the small ones haha!
The culprit of the last Agatha Christie book I read managed to throw me off of this one, but alas, I swear I almost had it! For just that brief second before my grey brain cells gave in!

3.5/5. Good twists, although one of them felt underdeveloped. I also liked how much of Poirot’s character we got in this one. I know it’s “of it’s time”, but I can’t help but mark it down for some of the language and way it describes certain people. Lots of other books of the time do not do that… so. yeah. good though
Agatha Christie is a firm favourite and Hercule Poirot an interesting detective. His characterisation in this book seems a little different to other novels. He is both more annoyingly sure of himself and ye willing to call himself out when he fails to see what is going on. There is more humour to his character then in other offerings and yet he seems even brusquer than normal with his friend Hastings.
The narrative spins out in an almost impossible puzzle. Nobody really seems to fit the bill of suspect and there are always pointers to why it could not be one person or another. I began to suspect that only one person was not being completely honest but wasn't sure why i felt that way. I am surprised that i had worked out the culprit correctly (does not often happen for me). I enjoyed the neatness of the final denouement.
