writing this review a bit later and I honestly cannot remember anything about this book, I guessed I didn't like it by the 2 stars but I cannot remember why, whoops!
Evil never goes unpunished, Monsieur. But the punishment is sometimes secret.
The plot is interesting because usually he dealt with murder cases in which the person is already dead and he just had to figured out who did it. However, this one required Poirot to be quick in order to save the girl from being murdered in the first place.
It's exciting to see how Poirot and Hasting are trying to piece together all the clues and figured out which one they missed in order to solve the case. I think this is the first time that Poirot actually seems rattled, nervous, anxious and unconfident which is not the Poirot that we usually know. Normally, he would seem confident and calm in investigating the case but this book is slightly different which gives us a glimpse of another part of Poirot that we didn't know before.
Near the ending I tried to figure out who really did it, but as always Christie's books are full of twists which makes it difficult to actually knows who really did it. The ending was surprising and a bit complicated, but after all it's still a satisfying ending.
Overall, it's great, entertaining and enjoyable. I have a good time reading this one and can't wait to read another Poirot's case in the future!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, even if the twist/reveal was quite obvious to me.
Another enjoyable read and a bit more complicated than others. However, I must admit this is the first one where I determined the outcome before the end. To be fair, I may have seen it as a television episode in the past, but I do not clearly remember that. But it is possible. Certainly an engaging read.
this one was good, im very much so starting to enjoy the hasting+poirot mysteries
This was a very interesting and complex mystery for sure and the reveal at the end was so well done. I never would have guessed all the twist that went into the final reveal.
Sometimes I think that I have outgrown Poirot but I just keep coming back. Poirot is a great cosy crime/slight escapism when you just need something light and you don't want to use your brain too much. This was good, but I preferred the TV adaptation. It's funny how so many of these old Poirot mysteries end in suicide instead of a proper hanging.
