Fantastical

Kristen Ashley

4.03 AVERAGE

Thank Goodness!! Maybe like a 3.8. The love, romance, and sinister plot was awesome. Cora's twin was not likable in the least (hateful and selfish, very different from the other twins) and watching Good Cora trying to handle all that havoc was interesting to read. I wish I got more though. The culture and world building wasn't as mind blowing in this one. A bit underwhelming. I still found this MUCH better than the 2nd book in the series, the first is still my fav. I'm very much looking forward to Apollo's story since he has intrigued me from the beginning.

5 "can't stop smiling stars"

I LOVED Tor & Coras story, love love LOVED IT!!! There were times at the start of the book the Tor was not at all nice to Cora but then he wasn't overly hideous and he did hurt her with the whole birthday cake situation BUT THEN he did make it up to her. The changes for Cora were much easier than some of her counterparts in this series, she's just such a sweet and genuine person that Tor would have been hard pressed not to fall for her :) Tor & Frey and Cora & Finnie are definitely tied in first place for me in this series. My face honestly hurts from smiling about this book....

Another fantastical journey from KA!

I loved Cora and Tor! This is just another amazing storyline from Kristen Ashley where her alpha's spring from the pages and make me want to live in fantasyland!

This book was nice but I still say Book 2 in this series with Dax Lahn is the BEST!!!!!!

I didn't understand the "can't see your betrothed on your wedding day" thing, but loved it otherwise.

This series has me hooked!

I’ve read all these books one after another and loved them all. I loved the animals Salem and Aggie.
I loved this couple so much. I liked that things happened in our world. I had two things I didn’t like. First was the sisters events happened off scene somewhere. That sucked. Second to have a bad woman that’s talked about but never seen. I’ve never had that happen.

After scrolling through so many 4 and 5 stars reviews I'm starting to wonder if I've read a different book. These are the problems:
1. The story is written in first person POV, which is the protagonist, Cora. I get that the author is trying to convey that she is cheerful, very optimistic and has a happy-go-lucky sort of personality. However, the repititive use of words such as 'awesome' or 'freaking cool' to describe anything great only leads me to think that the writng of this book is terrible.
2. The whole 'guy doing manly things such as being a warrior, protective, possesive, enjoy watching baseball matches, growling every time they talk' and women's purpose seems to be just being pretty and to produce children. The very distinctive gendor roles are making me so frustrated and no, men being possesive and controling is not hot. When the male protagonist constantly told Cora to be quiet (even though she was, at times, being quite annoying with her non-stop babbling), that's not hot.
3. There are two incidents at which the male protagonist did something wrong but he never really apolagised for it
Spoilerwhen he shoved her in the church and thus bruised her calf and in the 2 months of being together he still thought she was playing a game and went along with it cause he enjoyed the sex with her
. Both times it was just glossed over, him saying tender, loving words to Cora and she was fine with it afterwards. NONE OF THESE ARE ROMANTIC.
4. Also one can only use so much 'baby', 'honey', 'my sweet' or 'my love' before it gets corny af and I roll my eyes so far I see my own brain.
I think I stopped caring what would happen to the characters after 50% into the book. There's tons of better romance book out there.

Out of the three books I read from the series so far this one surprised me the most. Based on the blurb I didn’t expect to like it as much as i did. It’s on the shorter side compared to the previous ones and not as eventful either still a pretty satisfying and well rounded story.

The main character doesn’t know what’s going on just like in The golden dynasty, but in this case she thinks she is simply dreaming. She thinks this for white a long which causes a lot of complications for her. This belief of hers kind of becomes the source of most of the conflicts in the book. Also this is the first book in the series that shows any kind of indication that there is going to be a meeting, a common ground between the couples from the different stories.

The plot takes place in a really poetic atmosphere; it’s a bit like in the 14th century France.
I can’t say that this book is action packed because everything remotely action like play out in the background a we only hear about them from second hand recounting. However the way Tor and Cora relationship changes and plays out is more than enough to meet my expectations and satisfy my need for excitement with the numerous different unexpected turns in the storyline. It’s not boring for sure.

A new and notable element to the book that here the characters spent more time in the modern world too.
Cora is the most pacifists among the characters yet. She is full on hippie. She is really good, kind, happy and peachy character. Unfortunately she is a bit slow-witted at times which drove me up the walls. Also she cares too much about what others think of her which is one of her draw backs. She is against any kind of aggression and really determined to stand beside her views. Her relationship with Tor goes seemingly very smoothly but there is a twist which refutes this.
Tor is handsome, brave, dahlia and noble character who is also could be fair and kind if the original Cora didn’t make his life a hell. Because of this he has a hard time to accept and believe the new Cora even if he deep down knows that the two girl are not the same. A couple o times he disappointed me but compared to the situation he handled himself well.

One thing tough, it’s a pity that we don’t see more of Tor brothers because from that little scene they appear in the seemed really sympathetic. Unlike Rose who just with two sentence irritated me as hell. The other Cora is really spoiled, shallow and acted in an unbelievably disgusting manner. She would have deserved a more severe punishment.

A beautiful and picturesque story and worth every minute I spent reading it.

I enjoyed this installment and Tillie Hooper did an excellent job with the narration.
