This is my fave in this series and the only one where I felt the balance of power between h&H was equal. Sure they each had their 'idiot' moments, but in the end imho they appreciated and loved each other despite their failings.
I also appreciated that the side characters apologized in a thoughtful manner too. That is one thing I like about KA books, that the evil OWs and snippy side characters are given their comeuppance. Also that the H stands by his woman when needed. Sure the H here is a complete knob at first, but he readily admits his mistake and owns it.
I guess that's why I kept coming back to this author, cause it certainly wasn't for her sense of fashion or her repetitious and over descriptive prose.

BUT THE OTHERS WERE SO GOOD WHAT HAPPENED.
If found this book unrealistic - even for a fantasy - and so cheesy that I thought I was going to die from lack of insulin to maintain an appropriate blood sugar level. No joke, I felt like I was going to get diabetes from the chick that talks to birds, skips across courtyards, and is MISS POSITIVITY WHEN FACED WITH FLYING FREAKING DINOSAURS. No matter though, even though literally everyone hates her, she still has time to nuzzle horses or whatever.
“Salem!” I cried with delight, snatched Aggie off my shoulder so he wouldn’t go flying (figuratively) and skipped excitedly across the space while holding Aggie carefully in my hand.
Salem watched me and when I got close, I threw my arms around his glossy neck, deftly letting Aggie out of my hand so he could hop up on Salem’s back.
Salem whinnied and when I stepped back and grinned at him, he stuffed his nose in my neck and blew.
I laughed out loud because it tickled.
“Look at you, you beautiful beast. I’ve missed you. I haven’t seen you for a whole week!” I cried.
Salem snorted."
Salem is a horse.
Aggie is a bird.
Lady can communicate with bird and horse.
Aaaand... rainbows and sunshine, idgaf.
The worst thing about the utter failure of this book, is that I was looking forward to it so much. The first and second books (particularly the second) were amazing. Kristen Ashley really does have quite a natural talent for creating a whole other world, something that I would like to see more of perhaps... ;)
One of the aspects that I liked the most about this series was probably the immersion of the kingdoms throughout the series. All of these cultures, countries, people, live in the same world, yet they are all completely different. The synchronisation of them is chillingly special, something that I am looking forward to reading (or attempt to read) in the the fourth book.
There are many criticisms I could make about this book. But I'll leave it at this. Because the reality is this:

i really don’t like the writing style and I did also find a spelling mistake. I’m really trying to read better quality books but I think I should just start w fiction cos it’s so much easier to digest.

Reread 1/16 - Still love this one! Love how sweet Cora and Tor are!
Reread 10/15 - I still really liked this one! I loved Cora and Tor together and I loved how Tor adored Cora. They were great together and there was so little angst. Great book!
Original review - 4/15 - 4.5 stars... I really liked this one a lot. I think it might be my favorite of the series because Tor was so sweet to Cora and didn't do anything stupid to screw it up! Great story and great writing!

It has everything from a Disney movie beginning…

It has a strong female lead, a sexy hot prince with an alternate world equally good and hot double, to an evil she-god with flare for the evil and dramatic.
This third installment of the Fantasyland series had everything and yet it lacked something. May be it’s because I’m used to Kristen Ashley giving us so much, that in this book, I missed having the interactions and bonds with supporting characters.
May be it’s because I’m so used to Kristen Ashley giving us lengthy stories. I think Kristen has a borg keyboard implant that sends her brain a message along the lines of “you will write long and great books, resistance is futile” that I felt Fantastical, as Fantastic as it was, it was on the short side.
Perhaps it’s because I didn’t like Tor for the better part of the book. He was a bit of an asshole upfront at first and then pretending to believe Cora the Great. I understand that there was not a good relationship with Cora the Horrible, in fact it was awful. And he didn’t know or believe Cora the Bomb because what she explained was out of his world, but I agree with her and her damaged heart because.
Even so, the story is great. There’s sweet along with swoon and a happily ever after. Did I forget to mention a cool appearance from the previous books’ characters?

“… you can’t tell me that she’s capable of carrying off that kind of deception for that long. When I arrived, everything about her had changed, I hope. Everything. Even the way she slept. And you cannot tell me that you covered my body with yours… and didn’t know the bloody difference.”

”You were the only thing I had but you were the only thing I needed.”
This book was nice but I still say Book 2 in this series with Dax Lahn is the BEST!!!!!!
More of a rant than a review..
I wanted to like Tor, but although he was sweet, there was a time I wanted to kick his ass for saying stuff that hurt Cora. I could not get over it, so I wasn't able to enjoy it as much. I understood where he was coming from in the beginning, but when I began to warm up to him to like him, it broke my heart that to him, it was all deception, and he was playing her... And my trust went out the window. Lol.
I don't know, I just feel there are certain things one shouldn't cross, and although Lahn did some pretty asshat things in the previous book, it was still pretty reasonable because at that time, everything was a shock because of what he learned and he was preparing to attack the Maroo and stuff.
I do like the craziness of her fantasy books, but I found I like her non-fantasy heroes more. Cant work up the energy to read the next one, but I do like Noc so I might read that one.
