Lots of twists and mystery, I loved the story and I'm still thinking about that ending!

Nine students. Three blood-sports. One deadly weekend.
Greer McDonald is struggling to settle into the exclusive Boarding School commonly referred to as S.T.A.G.S; she has no real friends to speak of, and is struggling to make it through. Greer, unexpectedly, receives a mysterious invitation for a weekend of "huntin' shootin' fishin'"; and in accepting this invitation, her life will change forever. Greer soon realises that this is not a normal sleepover weekend, and when she notices that the others invited are also outcasts at the school, she begins to question the true intentions of her hosts. Only one thing is clear; someone is not making it out of this weekend alive.

I was quite intrigued by this book based purely on the cover as I hadn't read the premise; it offered little in terms of explanation but still pulled me in and intrigued me. I'm so glad that I did; I really enjoyed this book, and especially Greer; she was sarcastic and witty, and everything I like in a main character. She wasn't perfect; she made mistakes, and did things that were daft, but I still really enjoyed the portrayal of her. I really enjoyed this book as a whole; the mysterious Order mentioned in the book, and the twist at the end really made this book interesting.

The only negative I have to say about this book is the fact that they tell us at the start that Harry dies; I think it would have been much more of a thriller if we didn't see any of that coming, and were experiencing things as Greer did. Other than that I loved it.

It was really good can’t wait for the next one! Love the cliff hanger type ending and the pace of the book. Only one downside was the constant references to different movies that I hadn’t seen so didn’t fully understand.

I thoroughly enjoyed S.T.A.G.S.
It's a traditional idea, a girl from an underprivileged background gets accepted into a posh school and finds it hard to fit in. Except S.T.A.G.S is nothing but traditional.
First of all its always fun to read a book set in your own region (albeit most of the book takes place in Cumberland). But most of all S.T.A.G.S is thrilling, just as I thought the book was over (I wanted more so was ready to feel slightly disappointed)- it threw you a massive curve ball and then the last page left me wanting a sequel.
The character of Greer is easy to identify with and her film quirk ties the book in nicely and, if you've seen the films, makes it easy to understand her thought process.
The best thing about this book is that it tackles the topic of tradition vs. modern and does it in such a dark way. If anything I just wanted more. There could have easily been another hundred pages of intensity, building up the characters even more so when things happened they would really get to you.
S.T.A.G.S has much more to tell, I am eagerly awaiting book 2- whenever it may be!

This was the slowest read ever, nothing exciting happened for me till there was 35% left of the book. Which was a bummer.

This book took a bit of a different turn than I expected, but it was definitely still entertaining. There were enough twists and turns that I didn't see coming and the ending set up the next book quite nicely.

However, I found the main character to be a bit annoying and wishy washy, she seemed to flip flop between being smart and then just following what everyone else told her to do. I also found the constant references to different movies to be superfluous and unnecessary, especially since they were all set up the same "It was like that bit in..." Not a huge thing, but personally not my taste.

Although I found the overall story to be interesting, I don't think I'll be reading book 2 or 3. It was an enjoyable enough read, but not my favorite.

This book was great in theory, less so in execution (ha)

It's set at a boarding school with a secret society. You'd think it'd be thrilling. It wasn't. It was confusing, filled with too many movie references (we get it, Greer, you watch a lot of movies) and the motivations of the Medievals, just didn't make sense to me, not in this day and age.

If this book had been set in times gone by, it might have had the desired affect. But it just didn't gel for me. I had debated picking this book up and decided to get a library copy instead. Glad I did because if I owned this, I'd be unhauling it.
