This book was AMAZING! I love the interaction between Ari and Jai but most of all I LOVE the interactions between the Jinn Kings. And Charlie, parts of him I like in this book and other parts I did not like at all. I hope there is more interactions with the kings in the next book.

OMG!Samantha Young, you sure caught me well with this series! Amazing!

I am so involved in the Jinn world and in everything that happens in Ari and Jai's lives that I barely think about something else xD Obsessed much xD
So, of course that I loved this book as well. *grins* :D
It was so amazing to see Ari being faced with tough choices and really heartbreaking situations, yet seeing her fighting and carrying on...
I really wish I had her strength! :)
And I loved the way her relationship with Jai developped! +.+ So freaking hot! OMG! I'm in love with Jai! +.+
He is the exact kind of hero that I love - damaged, battle-scarred, vulnerable yet desperately hiding it, fighting for love and acceptance. *sigh*

I always thought that the way he loved and lusted for Ari was dreamy but now that they are, in fact, together, everything is way more romantic! +.+
Moving on, I was so intrigued by Ari's dark side - the moments when the Seal could take over Ari's body and control her.
It was so interesting to see someone as good and pure as Ari to be tempted by the dark side and see her reaction to the effect of that darkness on her.
Well, I'm not going to say much more because I don't want to spoil things for you but seriously, you should read this entire series.
I can't wait for Darkness, Kindled! :D

Samantha never ceases to blow me away with her lore, her twists, and the constant action that happens through out her stories. She's able to keep thrills at every turn, break your heart at times, and yet still make you smile while reading. I love this series!

*spoilers for books 1 & 2*

Borrowed Ember starts off where we left off in Scorched Skies, Charlie is on Mount Qaf awaiting his trial, that could very well end badly. Ari and Jai have finally given in are trying at a relationship... under wraps of course. But, Ari is still the seal and the Jinn Kings and fate still have dangerous secrets that she could have never imagined. Secrets that will change her whole life. Other than all those problems, she decided to do something for herself. She along with Jai and Charlie decide to re-join the Roe Guild and be hunters instead of the hunted. Ari's definitely got her hands full and fate is never quite kind to her.

With Borrowed Ember, I was so happy where some relations went and then so "oh my god, no!" with others. Ari, I am so proud of in this installment. She has to constantly make extremely tough decisions between loved ones, and based on everything happening, I believe she made the right ones. Ari also "looses" a lot of people in Borrowed Ember and her strength through it all is impressive. I do not envy her... unless she's making out with a certain sexy boy, then I do envy her.

Then there is the fabulous parade of amazing boys she gives us. Lets start with Trey, since I love him to pieces. I was SO happy that not only did he return in this installment, but he actually had a pretty decent role. I love everything about his playful personality. There's also Charlie, whom I've always loved since book one because of his brokenness and his love that I know is some where deep in him. Charlie was very intriguing in Borrowed Ember though. There were so many moments where I thought he might finally change, finally become the friend Ari always knew and loved, but Charlie was just slowly spiraling farther down. Finally, there's Jai. OH JAI you sexy thing you. I was so happy to watch Jai crack open in this story. Things are finally seeming to fall in place for him and I was loving every bit of it.

Also, does anyone else think these books would make an excellent TV series? I do! I do!! So much happens in each book and I could see this series making one thrilling TV series. That being said I love this series. I love Ari, Jai, Charlie, TREY, and the whole gang. Samantha always keep me turning the pages and wanting more. Cannot wait for Darkness Kindled!

My original star rating was 5 stars but upon re-reading I am changing this to 4 stars.
Still loving this adventure but can't get over the juvenile nature of some of these situations. Also, the protagonist is developing too slow - she feels so immature and I'm finding her unrelatable. She's just becoming a conduit for a romance with Jai lol. Which is fair. Asmodeus is a sexy new issue they have to deal with but again, I don't believe it all. I have to say this was the strongest book so far and the way this ends hurts my heart. After everything I said about being sick of Charlie, it breaks my heart to see him turn but oh how I love how many Buffy-evil Willow vibes it gives me. But I was really disappointed to see just a few chapters take place undercover as students. It felt like they were just getting started and it all fell apart, what was the point of going into the school? I got excited because it felt like we were going to have a proper subplot that takes place undercover and it would feel very 90s high school tv show where normal girl is actually a demon hunter. We even had Jai set up to be involved but all the school plot did was get Fallon, Ari and Jai alone to attack - and Fallon drives away so like what was the point??

I got about 85% done with the 3rd installment to this series. I don't know how many times I put it down just to pick it back up months later to read a chapter or two. I hate Fallon. I've hated Charlie from the beginning, disliked Ari a great ton especially for how she clung to Charlie even with how he treated her, hated how quickly she fell for Jai (who is one of the two characters I actually care for), I don't like how non-descriptive the areas she's traveling to are.
I'm just a big mess of dislike right now. I really wanted to love this, hence why the first two I actually rode along and found reasons to enjoy, but by this time, I'm just burned out. The Red King and Jai were this book's saving grace, but even together they couldn't pull me through.
Perhaps I'll find another jinn book without such annoying characters.

Let me tel you, Samantha Young is not afraid to make hard choices in her books. Here the Happy Ending will be hard won and with a lot of casualties.

My least one in the serie. There were still some parts that I enjoyed but for the most part it was a bit meh.
