The plot is an interesting introduction to a political and backstabbing world. I’d love to see more of the weird magical engines and find out more about them. The sex is well-written and varied, although there is less build-up than I was expecting.

This had the potential to be enthralling but the unique writing style didn't feel accessible to me at all. I struggled to follow the minutiae and trajectory of the story. It felt incredibly esoteric, too esoteric, and it constantly took me out of the story; I felt displaced more often than not and feel like I could've used a little more hand-holding even though that's nowhere near my usual preference. Progressed at a v dry and halting pace which made it difficult to either skim or finish.
