Another amazing prequel. I can't wait to start reading Touch of Frost.

Ok, this is the story of Gwen before she enrolled in Mythos Academy. Gwen is a gypsy, though she doesn't know why, which is kind of weird but anyways...she is a gypsy with a gift to see memories and feelings that are attached to an object or even a person. One day she finds out a terrible secret by touching the hairbrush of another girl and her story begins. After a few weeks she is told that, by fall she will have to leave her old school back and go to Mythos Academy, a place for people like her.

The story is really nice and it gets you wanna read more. I love Gwen and the way she is so curious about everything.

I also have to say that Spartans are not mythological creatures (gypsies either). They are just people who where born in Sparta. Humans. It's the way they were raise that made them of the most incredible fighters of Greece. Just a note. But I'm going to look pass that cause I think the book is really awesome.

This novella is about Gwen Frost, before Touch of Frost.

This gives more insight on Gwen's psychometry and the time right before she started at Mythos Academy. The story starts in the midst of her gift coming in to play and you get more of an idea of how it works.

You find out a little background about her, especially what happened with her mom. You can see her before it happened, and see how it affected her after.

If you're considering picking up this series, definitely check this out first to get a feel for it.

This novella was fun and good but it felt more like a collection of cut scenes from the first book. We see Gwen first learning about Mythos and her orientation for the school and first encounter with Logan but I learn anything I didn't already know. Still it's a short read and worth the amount it takes to read it.

Great introduction to the world. I read this before i read the first book and went into reading it with a sense that i knew the limitations of this strange world and welcomed anything that Estep brought into it.

This has been sitting on my kindle for a while now, and since I was going to begin this series I thought that I would start with this. I am glad that I did. I guess that I would have been fine without reading it, but there is something about reading events as they happen and not as a reflection or memory. I don’t know much about psychometry or gypsies, but I am definitely intrigued. I like Gwen immediately, and that may have to do with the fact that she really is kind of special. She’s nosey and that kind of gets the ball rolling with the events that happen in First Frost – how she learns Paige’s secret. Don’t think she knew that would be the thing that changes her life forever. She wanted to do the right thing and it came at a price. A price that even Gwen is sure she would have knowingly paid. I’m sure this is a lesson that will come into play many times for her. It was a nice quick read, and a great way to get started in the series.

What's Next? Touch of Frost

I downloaded this because I was interested in the first book that is soon to be released. It sounds interesting and has a lot of the elements I enjoy: magic, mythology incorporation, and boarding schools (blame harry potter). However I was seriously disappointed in this. First off I felt that it should have been longer, it only took 30 minutes max for me to get through this. Somethings were extremely rushed and I still didn't care when it was over. I think this would have been a lot better if it had been fleshed out some more. The writing is...okay at best, there were times when I literally grunted at things that irritated me because it was so frequent. For instances there is a lot of repetition in either wording or phrasing, and after a certain point it becomes very irritating and somewhat elementary. I don't like the main character and none of the conversations felt real, it was almost like watching one of those teenage shows where you can obviously tell it's scripted. It is however an interesting concept that I'm willing to look into when it finally comes out because I do want to know the full premise. I don't think I'll be buying the book when it hits shelves though, I'll probably try to borrow it from the library or a friend.

I now cannot wait to start this series! Her power is so different from other things I have read. I enjoyed the premise and how the ending kept me wanting more! I am starting the first book Touch of Frost as soon as I finish typing this post!
