The action in this is wonderful and the thickening plot keeps me wanting more. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a demon/exorcist twist to their reading schedule.

This introduces a lot of new characters tot the series, which usually I love but it felt like a lot of early high school drama people dynamics (boasting, push back, rah rah) and definitely see a potential love triangle.

It's only the second volume, and I wonder if this series isn't for me. Or I might just not been in a younger mood these days. I think I put the series to the side for a bit and maybe pick it up later. We shall see!

okay this review will be considerably easier to review due to the fact that it was longer then its predecessor.

another good volume in my new favourite manga series.

this volume followed the main character rin okumura continued to earn how to be an exorcist to fulfil his wish to take down satan, his father. over the course of the volume he meets his rival, a pompous girl and learns what blue night was. will rin finally move up a rank? what is mephisto pheles really up to? will rin survive his schooling and become an exorcist? all to be answered in this volume and beyond.

i enjoyed this volume quite a lot it did a fair amount of world building and introducing characters who will most likely become important later on. it also had more chapters which made it considerably easier to review then volume one.

this volume introduced a whole slew of new characters most of which were quite fun. my two favourites that were introduced were shiemi and bon. shiemi was technically introduced at the end of volume one but only became major in this book. she acts as almost comedy relief but is a rare character in the fact that she is powerful enough in her own right as well as comedic. she is also able to summon a familiar which with her knowledge of plants helps her heal most demon related injuries. bon does have a real name but from memory it never gets used. he acts as rin's rival/ friend and is quite amusing. he also has a backstory which acts as a driving force behind most of his actions.

the world building in this world is pretty good. in this volume we are given a better explanation of what a exorcist in this world does as well as more on how demons enter the world. also through the introductions of familiars it helped explain how some things worked as well as the possible exorcist paths characters may follow. the blue night event was interesting though. this helped explain a few events early on as well as why satan was so eager to gain control of rin in the first chapter. it also acts as a introduction for a few characters since many lost people through the tragic event.

the art style and plot were pretty good. most of the characters had fairly interesting design and even the familiars looked cool. the setting looked awesome from the wider scenes of bridges or roofs to the abandoned classrooms where the training camp occurred. the plot was also fairly flowy. even though the first chapter was another standalone one the other three chapters in the volume formed a small story arc which in my opinion had a satisfactorary ending. this volume also added elements to the overall plot as well as further explore characters motives.

overall a good sequel to the first volume which built on and improved a lot of things that occurred in volume one. definitely enjoyed this a lot and am looking forward to seeing where the story goes. 4.9/5
