It was okay! Entertained me just enough to keep reading. I don't really plan on reading the sequel though.

If a gripping thriller was crossed with a horror novel that was suitable for YA then you'd definitely get this. The plot and themes were both good, the only exception I have with the book being that the author kept on using weird fragmented sentences that kind of messed up the flow of the story. Other than that, it was a very good book.

Pretty good... Distress call... Rescue team is unqualified... And everything goes wrong...

This book ...

is AMAZING. I have read is twice now and will definitely re read it. I’m a scaredy-cat but this book had my lights on for a week and every noise in my house was something, that right there is the sign of a great book.

Not a bad read, but I didn't find myself wanting to read the next installment. I can't really say why.

Meh.

The absolute WORST thing about receiving this ARC is the fact that I have to wait a year for the sequel. GAAAAAAAAAAAH!

3.5 stars

I found this pretty enjoyable overall. It's fast paced with a lot of action. I agree with the critique that the story feels somewhat derivative, but that didn't keep me from being reasonably engaged.

What I didn't like was how over-the-top the Captain was, and this is what brought the rating down for me. The whole situation was dangerous and tense, so there wasn't much need to have the character in charge also be irresponsible and foolish with the lives of her subordinates to make things more dramatic. I would have preferred a bit more depth and realism in the characterisation.

Even so, things left off in a place with the potential to become interesting, so I am planning to read the sequel, [b:Immunity|33282104|Immunity (Contagion, #2)|Erin Bowman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1539641394s/33282104.jpg|54006332]

So........ I don't really know how to describe how I feel about this book.

The ending/plot twists? GREAT. WONDERFUL. YES.

But the beginning/mid point? I was very eh. I only pushed through it because I already have the sequel. I am looking forward to the sequel, but I wasn't impressed by the first book that much.

I'm giving it a 4 star for now, because the ending made up for the slow beginning, but I may drop it to a 3.5. Idk.

ALSO NOTE:
this book was NOT horror/thriller. It had a few suspenseful moments, but for someone who is very easily scared and refuses to watch horror movies, I was not scared by this. It almost felt like a really bland generic scifi plot. I love the characters, but basically everyone died and only like two were very well developed???
