ugh. So overly melodramatic and predictable. My teeth hurt from saccharine. This book is why "women's fiction" has such a bad connotation.

I could not get into this. The story felt disjointed and a lot of the language felt homophobic. Not the Kristin Hannah I’m used to.

I have yet to read a book by Kristin Hannah that doesn’t blow me away. The way she creates characters who are so lovable, real, and flawed all at once just makes you root for everyone to find their happiness. Summer Island is a rich exploration of the complexity of mother-daughter relationships and will leave every woman wondering what she doesn’t know about her own mother. A must-read!
