The most heartbreaking thing about this story was Eric. My heart broke for his diagnosis and the way Nora reacted after the horrible news. The whole story was a lot. Not just with Eric's side story, but with Ruby and Nora. I hated Ruby and Nora at first. I dont think I genuinely love their characters, but I understand them so much more. The writing is so beautiful and portrays their lives in a devastating light. Outside of the writing and Eric, I wasnt a huge fan of how the story played out. Compared to her other books, this one isn't as devastating or as well played out.

Kristin Hannah is a beautiful writer but nothing compares to the nightingale. But this was a good summer read about a mother daughter relationship.
