I don't think I've ever heard the story of Bonnie and Clyde told like this. It really drew inspiration from them, and twisted their love story into something completely different. I liked how they were fighting for something good, something right. They weren't completely lawless, but had to do what they did to help those they loved. It gave a reason behind everything, and really brought the whole story together into something bigger than just a tragic love story.
I really enjoyed the way each and every character was brought in and how they added to the story overall. I actually really hope that we will see more of them in another book. I don't know if this was supposed to be a series or not, but the ending was too incomplete for me to ever be satisfied unless there is another book.
The writing really drew me in and made the world come alive. The world building was great, but so much more could be done with the setting. That tends to happen when something is set in space.
I really enjoyed the book, but there was just something missing to make me absolutely love it. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, though. This was a good book to spend an afternoon reading.

2.5 stars rated up. The writing was good, but where it fell flat for me was in the story and characters. The story dragged and wasn't all that exciting, and I couldn't get a good grasp on the characters or their motivations. Not bad, but although the ending leaves it open for a second book, I'm not sure I'll read it.

|| Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group for providing me this arc in exchange for an honest review ! ||
It was awesome, a fast read and so hooking that I basically read it in 3 times and couldn't put it down otherwise. I'm always careful when I select a sci-fi happening in space because of terms and words I may not understand (as a non-english speaker, even in french I might not understand space stuff anyway lol), but that one was so easy to read and wasn't too heavy on the space stuff except for spaceships, asteroid, moon and jumps - so that was great!
I loved the Bonnie & Clyde vibe, I loved how we could follow Cyrus' side as well as he's supposed to try to catch them. It was really interesting and the way everything turned out was a good take and you could clearly see where things were directly putting what truly happened but in space and when some times things were a bit more open to fit in the book's plot. I have to say I mostly liked Jared, the couple's little hacker, than Ava and Shane themself - but they're made in a way that you can't really love them but also can't really dislike them, if you know what I mean? It was awesome to follow through their adventure but everything was so reckless lol. Really loved Cyrus's side and seeing his character developping like I wanted to - the ending was *chef kiss*!
The reason why it wasn't a 4.5 or even a 5 stars was that for most part we just forgot what was General Noth's priority : Nakara and inviding/using the undomed areas for mining. It just went nowhere and we didn't got anything about what happens next, maybe in an epilogue, of that planet. Also I would have really really loved an epilogue of Cyrus's doing maybe a couple months later! But maybe it stays open for a possible book 2?
*Also the repetition of the "razorsharp line" was taking me out of the book but I do hope it has been corrected before release, as I had an uncorrected proof~

I get really tired of characters who won't tell other characters things to protect them past the point of it making any sense.

I appreciate the criticism of colonization and the military industrial complex. Really great nuanced character dynamics as well.
Graphic: Violence, Forced institutionalization, Murder, and Colonisation
Moderate: Death, Gun violence, Panic attacks/disorders, and Torture
Minor: Confinement, Gore, Sexual content, and Injury/Injury detail
