This and the Adventure Time style of bizarre anthology comics are super cute...and not for me at all.

Having watched the TV show I decided I needed more! So bought a couple of volumes of the comics. This first one is lovely and stays in the right tone to match the show perfectly.

Steven Universe has quickly become my favourite show, so reading this was pretty cool. As far as I can tell, the stories in this comic don’t repeat in the show. While Vol. 1 doesn’t have an ongoing plot or story, it does have separate stories that can be read out of order (if you wanted to I guess). Reading this was great for me because I already have a connection with the characters in the show, so it’s like seeing what other adventures they get up to. If you already like the show, you’d probably like this too.

4 out of 5 stars.

I really love Steven Universe. It took me a while to get into the TV show simply because of the art style. It was odd to me but I watched a clip from Jail Break and that was it. Ruby and Sapphire sold the show for me.

I felt the same way kind of with the comic. I wasn't all that sure of the art style during the first comic. It was pretty difficult to ascertain what was going on. But the rest of the book was really good. Plus the Where's Wally (Where's Waldo, for the Americans) section was a really nice touch.

Honestly, this is a nice little intro into graphic novels for younger readers. It's got some cute stories, cute artwork, all centred around some of the best characters on TV right now.
