Thank fuck I only have one left in this series, this got slightly more interesting, I am holding hope for the 3rd book because it might be interesting

My least favorite of the trilogy, incredibly slow and without much growth or substance. Halo’s own Dante’s “Inferno.”

It's never good when the second book in a series or trilogy completely demolishes your interest by moving to a totally different setting and characters for the entire duration of the book. I had a hard enough time getting into the first book, but ultimately ended up enjoying it. I was never able to really arrive there with this one. Interesting enough, but far too confusing and abstract for its own good. I have no idea where the third book in the trilogy is going to take the story, but I hope it is better than this one was.

The reveals at the end are almost worth it.

A good book, but somehow missed the mark for me. For one I felt like if I wasn't already familiar with the Halo universe, I might have been more lost in this book. I finished it and on some level enjoyed it, just not as much as I'd hoped.

Takes a character from the first book in the trilogy and continues their story; a promising start. But it lacked the same impetus that the first story had. All I kept thinking was, “This is better when I read it more quickly and in longer sittings.” I’m not sure if that’s good or bad...

For my reread of this one, all I can really say is that I enjoyed it, but it should have been much better than it is.
