Does Gaiman ever really deliver on the vibe he creates? No. But what a vibe!

Woo what a wonderful journey! Especially after having watched the Netflix series, which I absolutely adored. It's such a treat to experience the OG. I couldn't help but compare the similarities and differences between the comic and the tv series. This made me even more impressed with the show because so much of it was portrayed with great care, while I greatly appreciated the changes because IMO all the changes were an improvement. Not to intentionally gush about the show instead, aha, but they somehow made pretty spiffy source material even better so I can't help but gush at the more modern/updated take with more POC to boot. In the show, scenes and stories were more fleshed out, and the more comic book-y one dimensional characters became more nuanced and more interesting. (John Dee, the Corinthian, Hob / Robert Gadling, for example.)

Some parts of the comic come off a bit dated now, and I wasn't a huge fan of some of the earlier art style, but this collection is wonderful and I loved seeing how it all began. I love the idea of the Endless and I'm so excited to read the rest of their journey. It's beautiful and dark and disturbing and sad and fun and thoughtful at the same time.
