I love this entire series. Heart warming and entertaining. I love it in the short story format. Easy to just pop in and read when I have a few minutes.

Borrowed from Kirk Bixler.

Yet another wonderful Herriot book that transports you to a bygone era in rural Yorkshire. What's quite clever about this collection is how he weaves stories about his wartime RAF service into the narrative about his life as a vet, and he does so expertly. It's a bit more sombre at times than his previous two collections, and perhaps a bit more reflective, but there is still plenty of humour. For me his work is great to read before bed because it is stress free and immersive.

Such a charming book. Well written, lovely stories. Some that are funny, some that make you think, some that tug at your heartstrings. He's an excellent writer and story teller.

Another lovely collection of stories from my favorite Yorkshire veterinarian. This one also includes stories from his training and postings in the RAF. I imagined I would find them an unwelcome interruption to the animal stories, but I found them charming as well.

More of the same, but the same is great. The flashback structure of All Things Wise and Wonderful (in the present, Herriot is training for the RAF) threw me off at first, but I settled into it after a bit.
