In which Murderbot explores the concept of free will, and chooses to extend it to other constructs.

I liked the previous three books a bit better, particularly the two that had Murderbot teaming up with other sentient bots.

It just feels nice to hop back into a Murderbot book. It's kind of like checking in on a friend and seeing what shenanigans they've been up to, and I got to see Dr. Mensah and the rest of that crew from the first book again! Throughout the book, Murderbot continues its process of figuring out what it wants and who it is. It also reevaluates its relationships with humans and those that could be considered "friends" (quotes because I'm not sure it's quite ready for those deeper feelings).

"I didn't know what I wanted (I still didn't know what I wanted) and when you're told what to do every second of your existence, change is terrifying." p.128

Amazing. I love Murderbot and I love seeing their progressions/growth. This story shows a more sentimental/emotional side to Murderbot and it warms my heart ☺️

This is definitely up there in fave murderbot books so far. As with most sci-fi, my imagining of most of the scenes is incredibly vague but still loving this series. Though keeping up with all the names and places is starting to get difficult

I love this series so much!!! (Note: I will be using they / them pronouns for Murderbot in this review).
This particular book focuses on rescuing Dr. Mensah from book 1, after the actions from Murderbot inadvertently get her captured, with the rest of the crew members also making an appearance. It also focuses on Murderbot’s relationship with these humans, reflecting on why they escaped after book 1 in the first place, and what do they want their place in the world to be. Murderbot and Mensah’s relationship is very sweet, and it feels like they have a real family with her and the rest of the crew. The book was action packed, fast paced and full of Murderbot’s sarcastic dry humor we’ve come to love them for. One of my favorite books in the series for sure!

I think we're all Murderbot. We just want to be left alone with our shows but people keep ruining that dream. I'm glad Wells brought back the original team from All Systems Red to really put an end cap on what was supposed to be a 'conclusion' but I'm glad she decided to continue the series.

I really am loving the murderbot series. At the time I'm reading it, there are several more books left to go and I'm excited for what's to come!

I gave the first two books 5 stars and I gave this book and the third book 4.75 because I found them significantly more difficult to visualize.

Like I couldn't quite picture what
the environment of the space station, the bubbles, the transit system
were supposed to look like. I don't have a super strong mind's eye and often find it difficult to visualize things so I think I just need more physical descriptions of environments with comparisons to things I'm familiar with.

I'm super excited to see the upcoming tv show adaptation, especially to see what the world looks like better! I hope they do Murderbot justice and are able to capture the joy of listening to their remarks.
