Better than the third one. I appreciate that we returned to the Preservation crew as I like them a fair bit. These are very good novellas but I don't understand why people adore them so much. The narration is fun yes but not revolutionary. Idk just strange to me. An enjoyable listen though

every time I start a new murderbot book I think to myself ‘ok, I’ve already read enough murderbot I should read something else now’ but by the time I get to the end of the book I want to read more and can’t help and pick the next book.

In this novella we finally get to see Dr Mensah again. After 4 long (really short) books she makes her reappearance and I’m here for it. Every interaction she has with Murderbot is super tender and wholesome. I love to see how she’s not afraid of Murderbotnand how both her and the rest of the team see Murderbot for who it is.

I did find the fight scenes a bit more confusing in this book than the rest but that might be due to me only wanting to read about Dr Mensah and Murderbot.

I would say Martha Wells outdid herself here but that would be downplaying the rest of her work (that I’ve read at least).

I really liked book #4. The pacing was better than book #3, and the big story arch was tied up without being overly sappy.

another great book, thank you Martha. I really enjoyed the plot of this book, although the politics in the middle lost me for a bit. maybe that’s a side effect of reading the previous three books like yesterday lol. I would die for murderbot in a heartbeat, it is my favorite. we really got to see a new side of murderbot in this book with the competitiveness, the anger, and the recognition of these things. I’m also so excited to read the other books, which I’ll probably do immediately
