Gotta be real. It be 5 stars if I didn’t spend majority of the time mixing up the characters names

If you love steam with an alpha hero, pick this book up and try it out. These two had tension you could cut with a knife. I would suggest reading this series in order because the amount of side characters was so confusing to me. Someone recommended this book to me and told me it was a stand alone, which it is, but the side characters were plentiful and I couldn't keep them straight. The amount of other things going on distracted me from the story and Chance was a little too pushy at first for my liking. She kept calling him out for gaslighting her, but then just went along with it anyways, it made me feel weird and I didn't like that.

ACK!!! I loved this book so much. Alley Ciz has added the perfect addition to the BTU Alumni series. This book is fun, sexy, and has a bit of a love-hate thing going that just sucks you right in. The characters are amazing and we get some of the OG Covenettes, text messages that went awry, and conversations that have you laughing your booty off. Highly recommend this book!!

only liked the smut

My first hockey romance, influenced by the internet to read. Cringy dialogue, lack of communication, a lot of food puns, grumpy sunshine pairing. The audiobook was meh because of the female narrator during the smutty scenes.
Realized that alpha assholes don't work for me in a contemporary setting.

Gemma and Chance are well-made characters.
I liked their relationship process and the chemistry between them. Honestly, the cover tells as if this is a dark romance but I think its more sweet. They fit each other spectacularly.
I thought Chance was too much of a headache but with the story development, he was rather misunderstood. And Gemma is perfect for him, they are meant for each other!!

Hmmm, I don't know how to feel about this one.

Granted, this is the first book I picked up in the series from a Bookstagram review. But it wasn't hard to catch on to the other stories and character's relationships. I just wasn't all that enamoured with the story. The writing is great and there are some funny bits, but I didn't like the friend's meddling or the MMC very much.

Chance (MMC) was just a * insert expletive here* for most of the book. Yes he had a bad experience but does that give him the right to treat her like he did...constantly? Also, WHAT IS UP WITH BEING IN HER PERSONAL SPACE ALL.THE.TIME???? Almost every time they are together in a scene he is crowding her. I am all for a little display of dominance by pushing against a wall, but that was excessive. I literally felt claustrophobic every time. There was also not even nearly enough grovel. I don't know why she accepted him back.

Anyway, the writing was good but the story just didn't gel with me.

Chance was such a grumpy dickhead, but my word when he got down and dirty he was pure

In this sports romance things start with a misunderstanding on Chance’s part, he is judgmental and rude to Gemma and instant enemies are born.
Gemma and Chance have a very adversarial relationship. Their sharp banter is funny, entertaining and the quips move at rapid pace.
The authors style of humor is unique and almost over the top. I enjoyed the quirky style and characters.
Enemies to lovers is a favorite of mine, I enjoyed the back and forth between the characters, it was humorous, fun and steamy.
The secondary characters add a lot of hilarity and the warmth of a tight knit family.
I haven’t read any previous books in the series so I wasn’t familiar with the nicknames and connections. It wasn’t very difficult to catch on to the big personalities and inside jokes. For some it might be better to start from the beginning, I was fine jumping in at this book.
Overall I enjoyed this steamy, entertaining romance. It’s fun, clever and light hearted.
I would have liked a bit more conversations with depth and emotions between the couple or more positive interactions that weren’t sexual. I didn’t feel their deeper feelings towards each other strongly.
I did appreciate their ability to move forward from their misconceptions. They were able to admit to things eventually, both are very strong-willed and stubborn. It makes the heat factor high when they butt heads and are feisty with each other.

How am I suppose to pick a favourite couple! They are all just so wonderful!
We have been teased Gemma and Chance’s story and relationship for a while now and I am so glad to understand more about them! This was a great enemies-to-lovers, sports romance.

Gemma was fantastic, I loved her story and everything she has been through (this was light touches upon, so check TWs at the start of the book if needed)
She was a great character, so much fun and personality. Just overall sweet, supportive and hardworking!

Chance had a lot of hang ups and fears that he needs to work through and be honest with Gemma about-there were times I wanted to yell at this man so bad (and loved that Gemma wouldn’t stand for his attitude) But each time he took responsibility for his a$$h0lë ways was really sweet. You couldn’t help but feel for him.

The banter, witty comebacks and flirting these two had going on that so fun!
I think their feelings for one another took them both by surprise and both feel hard and fast! Seeing them share things about their past was so sweet, and the way Chance cared and supported Gemma was wonderful to see.
I think Gemma and Chance may have been the steamiest couple yet! The mouth and possessiveness Chance has when it came to Gemma *fans self*

The fur baby love was a great addition, especially when Gemma and Chance playfully argued about who the pups loved more!
As always these characters and the whole BTU family had me laughing lots! We even got a tease as to what’s coming with the next book! I can not wait to watch that unfold!
