The characters flaws arnt the main plot. As explained a million times it is not a curse but a gift. (Iykyk)

The ending took an unexpected turn. I couldn't help but be reminded of The Institute by Stephen King.
Can't wait to read the whole series. *^____^*

Update: Ok, I read this book a second time, because I bought the sequels for my kindle and couldn‘t remember anything about the first one. Guess what? It was a slightly better experience than last time, but it was still… lacking. Didn’t care at all about the romance, but the whole power thingy is interesting (and totally my cup of tea).

What did I just read? I need a minute to deal with this.

First things first: What did I like?
- Kenji: He's such a funny cupcake and brought a smile to my face more than once. Sadly he didn't appear until the last 100 pages of the book.
- Juliette's craziness: A nice touch to her otherwise very Mary Suey character.
- A few very lovely quotes: e.g “All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart.”
- WARNER: Loveee him! He's such an arsehole, but a very interesting one. Also, he's mysterious and unpredictable (and that's how I like it!) He may be the only reason to pick up the next book.

What I didn't like:
- Adam: He's nice. That's ok. But he's also incredibly attractive and
Spoiler (nearly) the only one that can touch her.
Blablabla. I'm sick of perfect characters.
- Juliette: She annoyed me 24/7. She's whiny and worst of all a Mary Sue. (She didn't know how she looks like, because she was afraid to look in the mirror? REALLY?)
- Adam & Juliette: Ugh. I don't want to talk about them. They are so cringeworthy (which is bad, 'cause their romance is everywhere. Everywhere.)
- 1000001 metaphors: The writing style would've been better, if Tahereh Mafi didn't use them all the time.
- Dystopian?: Ugm, where are these characters? When does this story happen?... I don't know anything about this world.

All in all 2.5 stars. I'm disappointed tbh.
(But I really want to continue the story because of Warner? Help!)

Loved the plot hated the writing style

this book had a lot going on, there were definitely parts that made my jaw drop, but juliette is so annoying, warner is insane, and adam… i like adam. not my fav, but i’m definitely going to keep reading

Easy read, no dense world building, a nice break from the heavy reading I usually do. Don't expect much from it though. It's entertaining but that doesn't necessarily mean it's "good". But I mean I also did read it in a couple hours nonstop so
