I’m glad I stuck with it. The first 30 pages or so are mind-numbing, but it picks up after you get to Barbara’s chapters of her early life.

 Devushkin's manner of speech is insufferable and so, so lecherous (even though he's hard core repressed). Years ago, i attempted to read this book, but he annoyed the hell out of me, so i gave up. This time, i made it far enough to reach a longer Varvara's chapter which came like a rain in a desert. A much needed respite. And it made me interested enough to finish the story.

أحسست إني أتجسس على رسائلهم وأنا اقرأها. حبيت جدًا نوع العلاقة ما بينهم واللي قليل نشوفها. فعلًا رسم لنا دوستويفسكي بشاعة الفقر في هذا العمل، وحسيت بالانتماء لبعض الصعوبات اللي واجهوها.
بس كان ناقصني أعرف طريقة تعارفهم، الباقي أنبسطت فيه بشدة.
