This was a really engaging short story collection. Really loved the way nature and the outdoors was woven through each story. Each main character felt like me or someone I know, they felt very "lived in". Also, men are the worst.

These are all kinda melancholy, but also kinda sexy. Like tragi-sexy. Poign-erotic. It's an intriguing genre.

Great read about every type of man I’ve been with since my mid 20s and the wild woman I have become
I LOVED this book, but I'm annoyed by how I read it. I picked it up right in the middle of my mid-summer, depressing-read binge, and I found Houston's stories almost too overwhelming for my beleaguered mind. So I put it down for a month. And then I picked it back up again and was immediately sucked into Houston's dynamic prose and gut-wrenching explorations of what it means to be a woman exploring and defining herself by the west and the men in it (more of the former and less of the latter as the book goes on, thank the lord).
I think this is a book that I'm going to come back to again and again, and I can't wait to force everybody to read it.
