Volume 2 is even funnier than the first. Izumi Tsubaki seems to be settling into her comedy style better and better.

All of Nozaki’s interactions with Ken-san are comedy gold. Nozaki’s little crush continues, and their working relationship is hilarious.

New character alert: Wakamatsu! You sweet, naive boy. His childhood social adjustment must have been a bit off, considering he attempted to use romance manga as a template to express his anger to Yuzuki… Needless to say it did not go well for him.

And Kashima is so supportive when she thinks Hori wants to dress and act more feminine. Obviously she’s not opposed to cross dressing—she does it every day. But once again she completely misread the situation because she’s a dumbass. Gotta love her.

I also just really admire Izumi Tsubaki’s ability to write a perfect bait and switch every time. She’s truly a comedy genius. And the call-back to the sailor uniform!!!

I love Montly Girls' Nozaki-kun sosososo much. Like the first volume, this continues to be hilarious and heartwarming. The anime still covers this volume but, even if there was nothing new, still made an entertaining and sweet read. I think Mikoshiba and Kashima are my favourite characters and I enjoyed so much the panels of these two together! Another thing I love from this manga, in general, is how much it challenges gender expectations and how swiftly it does and ahhhh I just love it all so much!
