Alright, I’ll cut to the chase here, I hate this book and it is personal. As someone who’s parent died of cancer and then was told I should read this to ‘gain insight’ (what) on what my own mother went through (John green is just some guy he hasn’t had cancer?? why would he know what it’s like and why do we hail this book as THE cancer book)… Yeah, no thanks.
Buut, outside of like, the traumaporn, what is there to like about this book? why do people love it so much??

This book, while I guess being cliche consider I am a teenage girl, was something that truly made me feel and connect with the characters, something I really struggle with.

I remember reading this book in high school and loving it. Now that I'm older, I no longer understand the John Green hype.

This book has kind of solidified the way i feel about John Green, he’s a great author in ways i can never be so i can’t hate on him for that - however all of his books are the same to me with the same types of tropes just tweaked a little. i feel like in this book specifically he just used big words to use big words and i would catch myself generally skipping over the huge blocks of text of Augustus going on one of his spiels - which would end up not mattering to the story anyways and was always there just to establish that he’s a certified “Deep Guy™️” felt a little pretentious and honestly a little disappointing
