I am proud of myself for reading this and maybe that's why I didn't mind the struggle with language and the length. I read it after Circe and it was hard to not compare that interpretation of Odysseus with this version. This is repetitive and sometimes makes you wonder "who cares?" but also it contains so much within it.

When the intro discussed how there was frequent mention of feasting within this epic it wasn't kidding. They eat so much in this poem, and it is described in so much detail that it made me want to be a part of every feast that was mentioned. I will admit I didn't really know anything about this epic before I read it and I didn't expect there to be so many mythical and fantastical elements, but it definitely made the story interesting. Glad that Odysseus was able to make it back home safe and sound.
