3.5*. I'd been procrastinating about reading this book for a long time. Asa had all sorts of negative associations with him. an H he was not. I would've easily, possibly, have skipped reading it if it had been mid series but I'm a completer, and I needed that self satisfaction hit I get when I finish something. Anyway, that's for the therapy to take care of. The book was always going to attempt redemption, what surprised me was how I bought into it, how it was believable. That's quite a trick to pull off, because generally once authors go down one route with a character its difficult to pull back and take it down a different track AND take the reader with you. That aside, the MC's had great chemistry. I knocked off a few points for the noble idiocy and the 'let me have this one secret' at the end. It's supposed to be the last one in the series but new characters kept popping up so you know its not really, that's just marketing.
I received an eARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
Asa's story was one to be expected and I believe the best one to conclude this amazing series! As Asa tries to kive every day with the sins of his past, Royal, the police officer who had arrested him on the previous book becomes more and more intoxicated by him.
Their story has much more heartache and serious scenes than the previous books. Also we get to see how the rest of the characters are doing, since it seems that there is "baby boom" all over the story! Moreover, as the story progress, if you can notice that two characters appear: Zeb and Sayer. There is a special surprise at the end of the book for those two!
Asa and Royal are tortured but in the end love, trust and family becomes more for them than their own secrets. They save each other and that is I belive the most important message of this final book.

Well it is official.Only 2 books I love the most from this series. Rome and Rule. The rest, mediocre. I was hoping Asa will also be my favorite, but it turns out, I like Asa OK. What my problem with this book is the characters and their development.
Asa has past. He was a con man. He propositioned girls and women to get money. Then he is reformed. But when a woman propositioned him, he lost his mind and went banana. Why? I do not know. I lost the part of the reason to understand Asa.
Royal meanwhile is a law enforcer. She is supposed to be a tough, independent, brave and fearless. Yet she turned into a needy and weak heroine. I have difficulty to sympathize with her.
The plot is promising. I was hoping the last series in this book can close the book with a bang. It falls short.

I really love this series and had been looking forward to Asa and Royal's story. I loved the parallels between them. The criminal and the cop wouldn't seem to have anything in common but what they were dealing with was remarkably similar and through that they were able to heal themselves. I loved Royal's dedication to Asa. There was no waffling with her was was refreshing. Asa's journey to self acceptance was wonderful to witness. Add to that getting to see how the lives of the rest of the Marked Men were proceeding this was a wonderfully perfect read. I am really looking forward to Sayer and Zeb's story. There better be lots of mentions of my favorite characters in the next series!!
Oh, and I can't forget to add, Rule as a dad was amazing! Also Cora and Rome's wedding was perfect.

Asa deserved this story. So did Royal. Wasn't sure where the author was going to take this story, but so glad the direction smoothed out. These two characters have been working through the stories slow and steady and with a flash-bang they ignite. Well. Done. Story.

The smut in this was near perfect. Though the plotline was almost non-existent, I didn't even care. I enjoyed every part of this and the continued family/friend dynamic of all the characters. This series will forever be a part of my soul and I will always recommend this smutty, heartwarming small town family. I'm so sad it's over. Maybe the spin off will be just as good??

I absolutely love a redemption story and this was beautiful! Royal & Asa are perfect for each other. It took them a bit of time to get there, but once they did.
I love that Asa was able to love himself!

3 1/2 Stars for Asa and Royal!!
I loved this series as a whole and was looking forward to Asa's and Royal's story. Jay Crownover didn't disappoint! This book was just as angsty, sweet and fun as the rest of the books. I loved that you could really feel Asa's struggle to come to terms with his past and every bad deed he committed. It was also interesting to see Royal find herself and her spot in the world while trying to heal Asa. My only complaint is that the story dragged a little bit for me and there were parts where the story felt really slow and I got a little bored. Overall I enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what Jay has in store for The Saints of Denver!
