“It was obvious the path to every decadent sin led right through Asa Cross, and man oh man, did I want to race down it.”

First off all let me tell you I loved this book! This is also my favorite book of this series! So this makes me sad to write this review not because I didn’t love it but because this is the last book in the series…. This is one of my favorite series and I can’t help it but feel emotional that it’s the end of the series. I think Jay Crownover saved the best for last. From the moment Asa was introduced I hoped that he would get his own turn with the book. I was really happy that he got paired up with his Royal because I think they would be fantastic together. Trust me when I tell you that Crownover delivered a perfect conclusion to this series, this book was sexy and heartfelt full of trust, forgiveness and redemption.

Now you never have thought that this book would be good. I mean this book had an unlikely pairing with the sexy Southern Charmer who is an ex-criminal with the gorgeous and feisty cop. Asa always felt the intense guilt and self-loathing about his past and he just never seen the good in himself, he thought he would mess up again. If you remember he got arrested in Rowdy and he did not even tell Royal and her partner he did nothing wrong…. He thought he deserved to be sent to prison even though he didn’t commit any crime. Asa’s past was selfish and dangerous but with his near death experience made him change his ways. Now Asa lived a simple live and he did not believe he deserved anything better. Not even happiness or anything good. What pulled at my heartstrings was his remorse with his sister and I truly believed that he would done anything to make amends with her.

Now Royal is no stranger to guilt or self-blame because of what happened to her partner. She thought that it was her fault that he got shot. She started to drown her sorrows in alcohol and she wanted Asa even though she knew it is one dangerous ideas. Unfortunately for Royal, Asa did not accept any attempts at throwing herself at him. Asa is now saint so he could not force her away forever. While I hated how Asa saw himself, I was still glad how he helped Royal overcome her self-condemnation and doubts her job. I loved how she saw all the goodness in Asa. She wanted to help him get over his past and she want him to see the goodness in him. Now let me tell you the chemistry between Asa and Royal was definitely off the charts. Asa could have charmed the pants off just about anyone. Now let me tell you that Asa stole my heart especially when I saw the relationships with Rome and Ayden, not to even mention how he has a desire to protect Royal from getting hurt. As in typical Jay Crownover fashion, she makes sure that you would fall in love with another one of her marked men. I love all the Marked Men! I can say that this book was a perfect ending to the series.

“Asa was a beautiful man when he was wearing worn jeans and an old T-shirt; naked and angry, he looked like an ancient Greek god visiting amongst us mere humans.”

Royal may be one of my favorite character from this series. I loved that she is such a tough cookie even when she was starting to spiral out of control and I can tell you the weakness for “bad boys” isn’t actually a flaw because if she had no weakness to bad boys then she would never have gone after Asa. Asa is what she needed to heal and she is actually what he needed they just did not know it in the beginning. Royal healed Asa in just the perfect way. One person nearly broke them both apart, and that person is very close to Royal but once again I want to thank Ayden for fixing it in her special way.

This book can be read as a standalone but trust me you would want to read the entire series! Each book has such a fresh feeling but I loved reading about the other characters how they all reappeared in the stories. I am dying to read the Saints of Denver series…. I really want more especially after I have read all of Jay’s books. I will now automatically buy her books even if I have never even read the blurbs of her books and have no idea what they are about because I loved all her books so far. All her books are steamy and makes my toes curl with all the sexiness! Marked Men are what dreams are made of!!!

I have been counting down the publication of Asa since I finished reading Rowdy, and when Asa arrived on my iPad, I seriously considered pulling a sicky from work just to be able to read this one, but work won over, and I also had something to look forward to at the end of a long and busy day.

Getting to the finale of a series is always hard for me. Part of me wants to devour the book, find out how it all ends, and live in blissful happily-ever-after-ness, but the other part of me doesn't want to read the book. I'm not ready to admit that the series is over, that this really is end, with no more books to look forward to, obviously my eagerness to discover what happens won over and I read Asa in just a few short hours. This review is going to be vague and short, I didn't really take any review notes like I usually would so it's more going to be my feelings and thoughts about Asa, rather than the exact details.

Asa is an epic finale to this series, not only do we finally get to see what Asa is all about....which is some serious hot stuff...shower scene ;), but it also catches up with the rest of the Marked Men and Women and see what they are all up to now. Asa has so much to redeem himself for, and his feelings towards Royal only aid to confuse him, rather than focus him. He is torn up over his past, and we get a very detailed look into his sordid past, what he was capable of doing, and what he did. But we also see the Asa that we have grown to know and love, the Asa that cares about his sister, who values the friendship of Rome more than he shows.

Asa really beats himself up over all the mistakes he has made growing up, and he keeps this firmly in mind to rebuke all of Royals advances, until enough is enough and this duo finally sort themselves out. Royal is someone who surprised me, the persona she portrays is nothing like the Royal we get to see in the pages of Asa, she has her own doubts and insecurities and these make her doubt her actions in the field, doubt her ability to be a good cop, and also Asa's feelings towards her

The catch up with the rest of the gang was better than I imagined, although I did guess a few things before they were admitted, each new surprise just made me giddy with excitement. I love how this series has come to an end with the whole group, and not just with Asa and Royal.

Final Verdict
Asa was just as good as I expected, I loved every single page of the book and the ending was perfect, and it's very rare I am satisfied with a finale ending.

Very sad the series ended. Loved the last book. Asa deserved a good ending.

Asa is the sixth and final book in the Marked Men Series by Jay Crownover. Each of these books can be read as a standalone, but the characters are interconnected and I would recommend reading these in order if possible. Asa was first introduced in Jet's book, as he is Ayden's troublemaker brother. But you won't have any problems reading this story even if you haven't read the previous books.

Asa Cross relocated to Denver in order to start his life over, leaving behind his checkered past. He struggles with trying to be the person his friends and family want him to be and how to reconcile that with the person that he knows he actually is. Though he has done terrible things in the past, he is trying to do better. He knows that the beautiful cop Royal Hastings is interested in him, and yet he knows he is the last person she should hang around. Royal has been struggling as well after an incident on the job left her best friend and partner injured but lucky to be alive. She feels guilt and believes that what happened was her fault. She hasn't been sleeping and the only thing she has been interested in doing is going to the bar where Asa works to see him. Though she realizes that Asa is far from what she needs, she also can't stop herself from wanting him. Can a criminal and a cop find happiness and a life together?

Asa had that southern charm about him, and he had always known how to use that to his advantage. He was also sexy and never had a problem using that either. But I liked seeing beneath the surface with him. He was so much more, and I felt really badly for him at times. He thought he was a bad person for what he had done and while I don't support a lot of it, it was also easy to see that he hadn't had the easiest life growing up and that had affected him. I was really glad that Royal was able to see more to him, and that she helped him to realize that he wasn't as bad as he thought. At first glance these two were complete opposites, and yet when you got down to it they were actually similar in a lot of ways. Both of them were struggling and it wasn't until they really found each other that they were able to start to move forward with their lives. They were just surviving rather than really living. They had a lot of chemistry and you could see the attraction right away for them, but the connection was slower to build and I liked seeing them figure things out as the grew closer.

Overall, I liked this book but I also felt like it wasn't my favorite that I have read in this series. While Asa and Royal were good characters, I just didn't feel invested in them or their story. I found my interest wavering at times, especially at the beginning of this story. For some reason, I just wasn't drawn in and kept wanting to put this one down. I liked them, but I wasn't excited by them or their story. I think a lot of readers will enjoy their story, especially fans of this series. But this one just lacked that spark for me, and I felt like something was missing. I will read more from Jay Crownover in the future though, and I am curious about the spin-off series that will follow the Marked Men series.

Es un libro fácil de leer que engancha...
Lo negativo sería que la autora repite la misma fórmula a lo largo de los 6 libros y no es que no me guste... Sólo que me parece un exceso de drama innecesario

4.5
Un'altra serie finita... Meno male che esiste la serie spin-off, anche se so che mi mancheranno tutti!

Asa's story was certainly different then the rest of the Marked men, and while I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two books I still enjoyed the characters of Asa and Royal. They brought something to the table of the Marked friends, and there's certainly always room for a little Southern charm.

If Royal doesn't get over this obnoxious misplaced guilt and self-blame over someone else's actions I will throw my kindle across the room. I hate that shit.

DNF @ 30% and returned. Had none of the feels, except annoyance.

Jay Crownover nearly had me on this one because I seriously thought there wasnt going to be a happy ending for Asa and Royal. that would had done me in!!! I noticed straight away that this book was a bit different compared to the other books in the series and thats completely understandable as the two characters are different compared to the original bunch. However it didnt put me off one bit. I was more captured with ythis book and the twist and turns that the characters encountered.
I really loved the ending and I think it completely tied up the whole series. I would love to see how the whole team develop in the future with kids and marriage, but that might be a long shot!!! This whole series really kept me hooked and I couldnt wait to see what happened next with the other couple in the series. Definitely a 4.5 ★ rating!!!
