Cute story, but they skipped an opportunity for the “only one bed” trope. For most of the book it was a “no burn” instead of a “slow burn,” but we did get to see the really close friendship between the two main characters.

Best Friends Don’t Kiss is the cutest friends to lovers, fake dating romance I've read all year. The wonderful duo of Max Monroe have managed to make me swoon once again. I loved this book.
Luke and Ava are perfect together. Since their first day at Columbia more than 15 years prior, they've been the best of friends. I absolutely love, love, love their friendship. Of course I was rooting for the romance because, duh, they're meant to be. But it was their friendship that had me screaming goals.
I could not get enough of these characters. I want a Luke London for myself. Gawd, it melted my heart every time he kept a watchful eye over Ava and made sure she was safe. *sigh* He's just the dreamiest.
As for Ava, much like Luke, I was taken by her almost instantly. She's a riot. This girl is all charm. She's someone I feel like I could be good friends with. Max Monroe continue to add to their long list of fabulous heroines.
Best Friends Don't Kiss features cameos from some of Max Monroe's best characters. It's always a blast visiting my favorite billionaires. I will NEVER not want more Thatch.
If you're looking for a fun, swoony, easy to read friends to lovers, fake dating rom com with a little holiday flair you need Best Friends Don't Kiss. Just prepare to have the biggest, giddiest smile while reading.

A super fun, dual POV, slow burn friends to lovers, fake dating over the holidays romance when the FMC needs a date for her high school reunion and sister's wedding. This one has been on my tbr for a while and it did not disappoint! I really enjoyed that the aspiring astronaut MMC was such a cinnamon roll who secretly pined for his bestie after getting friend-zoned when they first met in college. Told through flashbacks to the past we see how they first meet and their relationship evolves over the years. Great on audio narrated by Elizabeth Hart and Nelson Hobbs. Recommended for fans of authors like Christina Lauren and Meghan Quinn.

I thought this was a pretty good read. The writing flowed well, but I wasn't a fan of Ava for the first half of the book and a few spots further in. She would not stand up for herself in any situation, and made Luke get her out of the situations by doing the dirty work for her. The worst part is, she never really stands up for herself. Not with her family, not with Callie. I liked Luke a lot. He was a genuinely good guy, and didn't seem to get annoyed at all the crap Ava put him through. He shouldn't have held on to his news for so long, but I understood why he did. I loved that Thatch and Cassie and all the rest made appearances. Those parts were pretty funny! The ending was sweet, and I loved the epilogue. It gave a really good look into Luke and Ava's future.

This was my first Max Monroe book so I can’t wait to check out more. Ava and Luke’s story was adorable and so much fun. They’ve been the best of friends for fifteen years and there’s no awkward will-they/won’t-they for our MCs, even though their friends always insist they’re perfect together.
Ava needs a fake boyfriend for her baby sister’s wedding and high school reunion. She’s tired of her family’s sad efforts to fix her up and just wants to enjoy herself without anyone focusing on the fact she’s single. When she announces that she won’t be alone when she comes home for the holidays this year, Ava has no idea how difficult it’s going to be to fill the fake boyfriend role. Luckily, her bestie Luke is always there to help and this time is no different, even though he makes it clear that faking it is a terrible idea.
The MCs in this story are so lovable. Ava’s funny and smart, so her quirkiness is endearing rather than annoying, as is the case with so many characters. Luke is probably the perfect man. He’s sweet and smart and fun and he wants to be an astronaut, he’s completely awesome. I don’t get hooked on book boyfriends very often, but Luke London is one of the very few, along with Roman “Bane” Protsenko and Hawks #11 star Alex Waters.
They’re great together and soon realize that their fake relationship doesn’t feel fake at all. Luke isn’t scared by that because he’s always loved Ava, but didn’t want to risk their friendship. Ava’s not as comfortable diving in, but when things start to get complicated, she realizes that she’s been blind to the truth for half of her life and it’s time to do this.
Ava’s family is hilarious and really add to the story. There’s a big, fantastic cast of supporting characters, including private pilot Luke’s rich passengers who have become friends. The guys and their wives from Max Monroe’s Billionaire collection are here and they’re great, so that’s probably my next series to tackle. This was a sweet story with realistic MCs. They had issues and angst but held it together and communicated like adults, which is always good to read. One of my favorite things about this story was that the HEA really was just that; When the going got tough, they found a compromise that worked for the both of them so they could be together and I love that. After all, the idea of sacrificing a lifelong dream or once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity isn’t likely to be part of HEA. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more about the billionaires.
