Great book. Great end to the trilogy.

Fun all the way and it kept me reading. What more can I say?

“”First rule of the Scrap, sis,’ Lemon said, crying, too.
Eve reached down and squeezed her hand.
‘Stronger together.’
‘Together forever.’”

Truelife picks up where Deviate left off - on a big cliffhanger. A nuke is headed toward New Bethlehem and Diesel and Grimm have left Lemon - who has been taken by CityHive- to stop it. (I remember reading this cliffhanger. It was painful. Thanks for that, Kristoff.) As it turns out, they do manage to save the city as Grimm basically takes in all of the energy with his power. This really made me nervous because I really like Grimm and I was worried he was going to pull a Fix and end up sacrificing himself for Lemon, or the power being held inside him was going to slowly kill him. Luckily, that didn’t happen, and he ends up expelling the energy later in the book to save Lemon. He doesn’t die. Thank god. I really was worried Kristoff was going to rip my heart out with that one because he’s so good at knowing how to hurt his readers. Anyway, also at the beginning Eve is still with Gabriel and the dark side, but ends up being taken by Daedalus and have these experiments done on her, but she ends up breaking out. Along the way, Ana Monrova’s body is also being rescued by Ezekiel, but she ends up getting shot and dying. I was kind of underwhelmed by this. I thought for sure something was going to happen to bring her back, even if only briefly. But it was good to see Zeke deal with that grief and to finally let go of Ana. It’s sad that Eve was coming second to her, but am glad to see at the end that her and Zeke still may end up repairing their relationship and Zeke acknowledging that he sees Eve as her own person. Also on the note of death, Preacher’s ending story line was also a bit underwhelming. Even though he’s blown to bits we don’t really know where we left off with him. He seemed to flip back and forth between “good and evil,” to put it simply, but I also think that it felt right that he went out still with his gray morals in tact. It was fitting for him. I also want to take this moment to mention Cricket, whom I loved in this book. I kind of expected this to happen, but when he was injected with Libertas and yet chose to protect Lemon, I loved him even more. I was heartbroken when his personality chip was destroyed, but was glad that Eve was trying to recreate it at the end. Speaking of the end, I’m really glad that not only did Eve and Lemon survive the series, they chose their friendship at the end of the book. I really liked that. Overall, as a trilogy, I really enjoyed this story. It was really creative and had lots of characters and motivations. I also thought the worldbuilding, based off an apocalyptic America, was also really fascinating. Kristoff is a great writer!

So, it would seem that I've really got this weird issue the last few years where my brain just WON'T LET ME FINISH SERIES. Guys, there are final books in series I've been working on for FOREVER that my brain just keeps finding excuses to not read. This one was bad enough at 3 1/2 weeks, but yeah... it's becoming an issue.

That aside, this book was, shall we say... brillful? (If you don't know what that means, you should read the series) I was quite happy with how things ended for everyone and how things played out in this book. Let me tell you, there were deaths. Oh, so many. And in true Jay fashion, this will probably rip your heart out just a tiny bit. Just a little itty bitty bit.

Lemon Fresh will probably be a character that will resonate with me for the rest of my life and she really stole the show over the course of this series. Lem is amazing, she's brave and honest, blunt, strong as hell, tough as nails, and boy does she love with all she is. Watching her journey was such a pleasure.

Super sad this is over, but I'm so glad that I read these books. As always, thanks for the ride, Jay.

This is the final book in the lifel1k3 trilogy.
I decided to finish as many series as possible this year to continue with my huge pile of books and Arcs.
This latest book was packed with action, romance, and epic robots. Jay Kristoff definitely knows how to build good relationships with the characters, I found myself most of the book laughing and crying.
The ending of this trilogy in my opinion was perfect and I will continue to read everything Jay Kristoff writes in the future.
Thanks to Netgalley and Random House for this book in exchange for an honest review.

This series had such promise, the whole Pinocchio idea, the toy that wants to be a real boy, the machines - Logika and Lifelike - that want to be real, that want to be unbound of the three rules, the love that might be real, the freedom that might be theirs, and the first book laid such a great way for it but… it kind of fell short.
A world destroyed by four great wars, a world where only the brave survive, and where without the machines they’d be lost. There two girls meet, one strong and brave, one witty and savvy, sisters in all but name, but then truths are revealed and nothing will ever be the same.
I really loved the first book, the ending especially was beyond twisty and amazing, but after that it went a bit downhill for me. A character that I really grew attached to and that I wanted to see evolve and accompany its arc just went into the sidelines, the author did reward me with at least a good finale but not enough to compensate a lot of things throughout both book 2 and 3. I could understand some of his decisions regarding the characters but they just seemed too forced to play the part he wanted without really making much sense from what I knew of them before.
I still enjoyed it for the most part, it’s very action packed and there’s such great imagery all over it. Still, I would say the series was overall a 3.75⭐️ with the first a 4.5⭐️. The brilliant writing and imagination, and the first book did increase the overall rating.

Hoo boy, was that a rollercoaster! Jay Kristoff has proven himself a diabolical master at breaking readers' hearts, grinding them up, and feeding them to us for dinner. And I knew that! I did. But I just had no idea the depths of his depravity until I finished TRUEL1F3. I think I said "Oh shit" and "Oh no" and "Oh shit no" out loud on every other page. It's a dark, funny, bloody, crazy good end to the trilogy.

This book took alot longer to read then I wanted but I had alot of shit happen in my life and I think I didnt want to finish because I started this series buddy reading with my best friend at the time. Well my best friend broke up our friendship and as I'm still having a hard time with it I'm not letting it steal my love of reading.
This series rocks! I loved it but I think I would've loved it more had I been 16/17 when reading it.
