I was left with the feeling like this story was missing something. It fizzled a bit for me at the end. It’s memorable and the characters are vivid and multi-faceted, but I don’t think the plotting or character development worked in the final act.
This was so vividly beautiful and haunting. My only regret is that it sat on my shelf for so long before I read it. Such an incredible debut novel.

I enjoyed this book– although it was a bit slow at times, and then the ending felt a bit abrupt, it was overall compelling. I really felt for Birdie, whose life is so dramatically shaped by other people's choices. It was effective to have the novel only from her POV, as she works on making sense of the world and her place in it, although I would read a companion novel about Cole!
This was pretty interesting and insightful; I liked the writing for the most part, but the story really dragged. I loved her newest book but this one won't stick with me very much.

ehhhh overwhelming in a not so good way. parts i liked i really liked but honestly it’s too long, needs more editing.
This book was really good. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting going into Caucasia, but Senna made me feel like I was part of the race wars of 1970s Boston, made me really worry for the family at the center of the story, wonder if they'd ever find happiness, and if it was even possible to. The fact that the main character is just a little girl when a lot of major events go down only adds to it, as Senna really gets inside the head of a child watching the world change in battles all around her.
I highly recommend this book. It is not a completely easy read at times, but it is absolutely worth it.

I really enjoyed this book about a interracial couple and their two girls. The story is primarily about one of the daughters who "passes for white" and her experience with being bi-racial. Great read! Highly recommended!
