Interesting... Some scenes here were, like when the two of them fell on the river, in the anime was after being separated from the rest of the group but here it was them of separated on free will to draw all zombies with them (basically in the anime this happen first (They spending the night together) and in the manga afterwards). Remembering their connection & interaction it makes more sense like in the Manga. In the anime they kissed - but int he anime nope... which was a shame...

In the anime it was more dramatic the fighting (when they were in house) - They left with Takagi's house but here they had somesort of buggy.

There was also an important part missing in the anime when the friend of the professor watch his partner kill himself after being bitten. IT would be dramatic but they knew they weren't pursuing this story - I don't know.

I like where this is going. Btw, nothing to do with the manga but I reading the colour version.
What a change in Kouta.

They find a new girl, a police woman officer called Nakaoka as they stay inside a Mall.
There they first get into hostilities with some residents. One of them try to rape the nurse and the policewoman (Nakaoka) tried to stop him. But she was very timid and couldn't do it. But Saya-san steps in and drops the guy senseless.

From this moment on, it's another love triangle.
Just to clarify
Rei Miyamoto & Saeko Busujima with Takashi Komuro.

And now the second which was in the end put to rest is Saya Takagi & Kouta Hirano with the policewoman Nakaoka. She didn't died in the 5th - he just turn her down.

In the end of this volume, the rest of the residents realize that they are alone and no help is coming...

Shizuka Marikawa - Nurse
Rika Minami - Sniper (Friend of Shizuka)

So this was the last take... Comparing with Walking Dead imagining the show ended in half of season two or three. There was so much this could grow...

They escape the Mall, went to the police station and then to the school (finding Rei's Mom) along the way as badass as Rei.
There was no clarification on the love triangle; on Kouta and Takagi (the policewoman sacrifice herself and Kouta shot her). Finally we saw Marikawa (the nurse) being useful. Alice it's just alice. The dog as well.

This story could have at least have more 7 volumes. The school reunion with Rei dead; the all Rika story untold. We also don't know the whereabouts of Takashi parents.

About the Art - I enjoy it. I believe the boobs were a bit unrealistic. They all have Unrealistic big boobs, and even deformed pineapple boobs. It's just weird. What's more weird. Saeko Busujima has the following measures - 83-56-86 and believe, in the manga or anime - in no way those are 83. Nope. Oh Saya Takagi has 92-59-87 and Marikawa has 108 (J) - 62 - 94. I have search and probably these are the only ones I can honestly see being more "accurate". But 83? - Yeah I had to go check...

But no matter what, they were bad.
I also could see this show going a bit more far - there are very few instances of nudity - the only one was in the house of the friend of the nurse. All others, are ecchi.
So, what now?
Well, nobody gonna pick this up, because the author sadly died. The artist don't want to do it to honour his legacy but he also mention that he has another similar series called Triage X (Ecchi!)

I would like to see a TV Series please! With some Japanese models from Jav movies eheh. PLease!

Kidding aside, really enjoyed. It was most unfortunate that it had to end.

And thus I reached the end of this manga. There is no news, no nothing on if it will even continue. It is sad, it was just getting to some great parts. :(

Some more boobs and more zombies. Still it is a good story, I like it better than the anime. :)

Almost at the end/up-to-date with this manga. Too bad it ended/got put on hiatus/whatever other reason.

I didn't particularly like the anime (too much (gravity-defying) boobs and asses). This one also has quite a few fanservice moments, but I felt it was slightly less.

Wow this was literal trash.

Every wanted to read a zombie story with tons of panties shots and no redeeming characters? Welcome to Highschool of the Dead.

Zombie genre is over-saturated to begin with. So if you coming to try it you better be unique or at least fun. This is neither. This is generic zombie tale in school. Every single character is annoying, cry baby, or just a brute. There's no different. Every girl is weak and fragile save for a sword user. Oh and don't worry about plot or character development, you get the panty shots you've been wanting. One after another. All the same type of stripped panties with girls of all the same over dramatically skinny and sexually charged poses.

This wouldn't be so bad if the story was decent. Or we had decent characters. But neither is here.

I guess the art is okay? Blah. Fuck this series.

Zombie apocalypses are one of my favorite things to read or watch (That's why I love Zombieland so much, well, that and Jessie Eisenberg) and Highschool of the Dead really set the bar with that. I'm a big horror reader. So anything that's gory or disturbing I'm up for the read. This manga was a sure fire hit on gore.

The only thing that was difficult to get past in this manga was the Echi, or the perverted messes that that that happens every so often. And since all of the protag girls are big breasted women, there are bound to be close-ups of that and the common head-between-the-boobs moments. It's just stuff like that, you know what audience is targeted for this manga.

But looking past those things, the story concept is good. Japanese teenage students trying to survive the ever-growing apocalypse that has not only infested Japan but the whole world. The dystopian manga really shows how crazy the world and people can get when fear takes over (and zombies, don't forget the zombies).

Another thing that I should mention that was rock solid in this manga: the weapons. Baseball bats, swords, poles, nail guns, actual guns (and a whole freaking artillery at that!) It was really cool to see how the teenagers used each one to stay alive and how they had to think before they used most of them to avoid death. Even though I'm a girl, I find weapons extremely cool and interesting in these kinds of situations.

Highschool of the Dead is where you get your zombie action. Fast and furious and intense. Nothing in this manga is for the faint of heart. I recommend this manga for those over the age of 16 for more of the sexual aspects registered within this series.

For those of you that are shonen fans, this manga is definitely for you. The amount of ammunition that these teenagers are packing is seriously something that you should all take a look at because its intense as hell! A wonderful and highly addictive series that brings you back to see who will make it out alive in the world succumbed to the wave of zombies.
