4.5 stars I’d give this!! Very creative and cool idea to compile some stories together that somewhat tie into the Endless! I like the revelation and explanation at the end as to why they’re in the Inn and I thought that was brilliant!

Just pure perfection. Lyrical and profound in its storytelling. This volume broke my heart into a million tiny pieces. All I'm left with are the jagged pieces of stories and an all encompassing awe of Neil Gaiman's boundless imagination and writing.

A short story collection, linked by the inn World's End, where travelers from different time periods and places and universes come together to tell stories and wait out the "reality storm".  I especially liked "Golden Boy", about Prez Richards who becomes the President of the United States at the age of 20.  It's all tied up in the last story, where there's a funeral procession featuring some of the Endless.  As a whole, Vol. 8 showcases the complex tapestries of dreams, fate, and reality.

Neil Gaiman has proven himself a genius yet again. The sheer number of stories-within-stories (...within stories...) in this collection was insanely high - and yet I never lost track of where I was.

The trouble is, I have no idea how to recommend the series to people. It sounds completely mad whenever I try to condense it into a few sentences!

More prelude than anything and probably the most muted of the story collections. Nothing is all that bad, but there is little that really wowed me. In fact, the wrap-around might be the best bit.
fast-paced

In this volume a couple of people are traveling cross country in the middle of the night when they crash into a tree. In the middle of June it seems to be snowing and the man carries the woman but cannot find the interstate.. instead he finds and Inn full of all manner of mythological creatures and entities stuck there from all different world's and timelines "until the storm passes" and then they can go on their way. The establishment is called "World's End Inn". They pass the time by telling stories from their lands and their pasts and histories. It's mildly entertaining. I still don't like the series. So disappointed. I will carry on. Only two left.
