I feel like with each volume I start out thinking what the heck is going on and what's the point and then by the end I'm just swept up in the story and don't care if it seems to be going anywhere. I'm also reading Arabian Nights right now and these stories reminded me a bit of them, although they are really more like the Canterbury Tales. Quite fun.

the sandman just exceeded my expectations again. seeing morpheus with his family and facing the consequences of his actions, dealing with human emotions was both exhilarating and heartbreaking to read.

Another compelling, poignant entry in the series.  A memorable,  sad, momentous ending.

This was by far my least favorite of the Sandman series. I didn't exactly dislike it, but it didn't hold my interest as much as the others.

Every year or so I manage to swing back to Sandman and dust off another volume. I gotta be honest and say this wasn’t my favorite. The writing and art is superb as always, but some of the chapters here were strange in ways that didn’t pay off. I was much more intrigued by the framing device, and what it means for the last two volumes in the series.

I knew that the series gets better with every next book but oh my I have so much respect for Gaiman and his storytelling.
