I think this book is a great reference guide for different things- how far can your baby see, can you use flash on the camera, do hiccups annoy, etc. It is not a book that will guide you with parenting or how to do much with baby other than look for milestones and when they should occur. I'm glad I have this book to reference but I do just that- I don't 'read' it.
I canβt believe I read this beast cover to cover. Tho most of the info is good to know, I feel like most people just google stuff and not reference this book
informative
slow-paced
Let me disclose my bias: I am an adoptive parent. So when the opening paragraphs spent ,in my opinion, too much time trying to convince you to breast feed, I was more then a little annoyed. I was done.
It's fun to read ahead and see what your baby will soon be doing.
a month by month breakdown of baby's first year. great with helping you to know what to expect when, starting solid foods, what to do when baby gets sick, etc.
Not a fan of the organization. In the "three months" chapter, I want to read about what my baby should be eating/doing and how much he should be sleeping. I don't want to read 10 pages about daycares. I wish these books were organized more logically. My husband is reading The American Academy of Pediatrics: Your Baby's First Year and this book is much more logically organized. I think it also has a lot more information about developmental milestones.
Good to have on hand as a reference book. If you read through the chapters on each month, however, you'll drive yourself crazy.
Funny thing, life gets busy with a one year old ππ used the app and figured it out
