I really enjoyed this. It was light hearted and fun. It also had a hate to love relationship which is a favorite of a certain someone I know. I picked it up on a whim, and I am glad I did. I plan to continue with this series after I finish the book scavenger hunt.

Reading scavenger hunt: any book you choose.

Far too contrived. The interactions between characters felt very forced, like “look at us!! Aren’t we so quirky??”

Almost stopped at the beginning but waited to see if the conspiracy added anything to my enjoyment.. it didn’t.

i absolutely adored this book! I found this book to be refreshing. It is unique and has this fun feel to it. the story was fast paced and kept me on my toes. From the first page I was hooked into the story and I couldn't put it down. I ended up finishing it in 2 sitting. The characters were amazing and extremely like able and I couldn't help but root for them! So far this is my favorite book of 2016.

Well that was a whole lotta fun!

The Banshee's ragtag crew, their interstellar shenanigans, and the spot on banter totally reminded me of Firefly --- and I am ABSOLUTELY okay with that! I can't wait for book 2!!!

This book was so much fun! This is the first space-opera book I've read and boy, now I want to read more.

Things I like:
1. The banter. So much gold, not just from the leads but from ALL the characters. Here's my favorite part:

With her back turned, she loosened each plait until her hair hung in waves that curled around her waist. Then she spun to face him and puffed a sigh.
“Fine. You caught me. I guess there’s no use pretending anymore.”
Doran settled in and waited for the punch line.
“I lured you onto this ship,” she said, “because I couldn’t get enough of your scintillating personality.”
There it was.
“Kiss me, Doran,” she cried, flopping onto the mattress with one arm slung over her eyes and the other clutched to her breast. “I burn for you, hotter than a thousand hells.”
He cocked his head to the side. “I think there’s an ointment for that.”

2. The adventures are soooo fun and exciting...
3. SPACE PIRATES.
4. A crew that feels like family. I really love books where the characters finds friends who are not just friends but foster families.
5. There's romance in this, but it's a fun, foes-to-friends-to-love kind of story.

Things I kinda didn't like:
1. The development of a certain character. I kinda didn't buy it because it was so fast, like a 180-degree flip that I noticed but didn't actually feel. But maybe that's just me.
2. Figuring out what would happen before they do happen, case in point:
a. The big reveal: called it.
b. The big ending fight: I knew that
Spoilersomeone from the crew would die.

I was having so much fun, I didn't really stop to think about the following:
1. What year is it?
2. And how did we get here?
3. The science of it all.
4. The politics and economics of it all.
And now I'm so bothered I might re-read it and then I'll think about all these and wouldn't enjoy it as much.

Meh.
I wanted to like this. At first, I did. But then.
Ugh.
Every single time. EVERY SINGLE TIME, they escape. Every time. They never get captured. Okay, yes, she did get captured by the pirates, but only for half an hour, basically. LAME. EVERY SINGLE TIME. So annoying.
Another thing I disliked: the romance, of course, typical of me. Yuck.
I was a little intrigued by all of the crew's backstories, but . . . the rest of this book is just pretty lame.
Why does the main character want to go to the place whose name I forgot (yes, my memory is really bad)? To get a job?? But . . . practically everywhere she's gone, people want to hire her! She's apparently a genius with machines and stuff! To get away from Earth?? She's already away from Earth!
This book is just . . . meh. Not horrible . . . but also not good. Oh well. Now I'm reading Calamity, and oh my goodness. Brandon Sanderson has struck me dumb again. And again. SO MANY MIND-BLOWING THINGS!! Ugh, I'm still recovering. :)

Fun and filled with many of my favorite things

I liked this one a lot: it's a quick read, and any story that gives me space travel and pretty cool lady protagonists who can fix an engine but also fall in love is doing something right. I liked the twists and turns and this crazy world building.

Glad to have read this one!
