Agh, the squirrel! Best Newbery since The Graveyard Book.

The book doesn’t live up to the hype of the cover description / movie trailer. Flora talks about her book and says the title of it way too much. But I remind myself that I’m not the intended audience and a lower elementary kid would find it hilarious.

This book was adorable and had some very poignant lessons about life. I have to say that I was surprised to have the mother come around at the end, and be a positive figure in Flora's life. Too often in children's books (or teen books as well), parents or authority figures are the bad guy forever. Of course a lot of people don't change, but I was happy to see Flora's mother redeem herself and express her feelings for Flora. The illustrations were cute and I loved the superhero squirrel.

Although it wasn't what I expected it to be, I still liked it. It had a deeper vibe to it and the story was warm-hearted :)

Cute story.

I didn't like when the grown-ups didn't act maturely.

I didn't think it was on par with her other books were more appealing to adults and kids alike. However, its a good read for 3rd, 4th and maybe 5th graders. Adam enjoyed the super hero squirrel storyline and the mix of text and graphics.

I had high hopes for this book. It was picked as a school wide read along with my kids. The way it was written was very confusing and we all had a hard time staying engaged in the story.
