First off massive trigger warning, first is the graphic description of a suicide attempt. The second is that there is the alluding to a sexual assualt, the actual assualt is not described but her feelings and the events leading up to the moment are described and I am personally mentally and emotionally exhausted from this particular type of trauma sprung on me in the middle of the book, so if you're like me, I would advise either skimming or even skipping pages 320-322

Would have given a higher rating but main female character, Lou, just genuinely annoyed me lol...maybe I'm just similar to the other main character Will in personality
In the end, I thought it an interesting story presenting such a deep social but personal dilemma, stressing the importance of choice and agency. It was a surprisingly inspiring story that, in a relatively stressful point in my life, has reminded me of my love of just doing things in life that make me happy, and especially inspiring me to plan my next holiday!!!

"Me Before You" is not the book it is marketed as.
I had very little expectation for "Me" when I picked up the audiobook from the library. It sounded like a fairly typical chick-lit romance with a disabled love interest. It is not that. Yes, Lou does fall for Will, but the story really circles around the issue of
euthanasia
. This is a pretty devisive issue, and it is treated as such in the book. Characters have many different opinions on it. Will wants it. Lou's mom thinks it is murder. Some of the chatters on the quad page are for it, others against. I could see how this would be an equally devisive for readers, but, to me, Moyes doesn't treat it as a one-size fits all issue, and that adds complexity to the book that I did not expect.
Overall, "Me Before You" could be a love it or hate it book, but it's not the trite romance the blurb suggests.

not sure how or why this has so much widespread praise when its just the manifestation of the author's ableist thoughts. this could have been a decent tragic love story if there wasn't so much pity and hatred for people in wheelchairs as subverse

Without a doubt the most heart-wrenching book I have ever read, I already knew the ending as I watched the movie first but the book added so much more depth to the characters, allowing for them and their choices to be better understood.
